Almost feels like too much food. If my memory serves me correctly, we did plenty of dock drinking and paid for our bar drinks just before dinner. Lobsters were served by a chef behind a steam table which we walked up to. I assume there should be an alternate dish for non-lobster eaters. Salad and co...

You're looking at $4.50-$5.00 per gallon for marine gasoline this summer. My diesel delivery truck price this week was $2.40. To me, it's a no brainer if you're going to use your boat a lot. It's going to be a crowded inshore season...and a lot of dead NY Fluke "shorts". Thank your beaurocratic brai...

Hmmm...the credibility gap widens. Notice how the Democrats aren't beating in the heads of the Republicans on the issue? If I were them I would, but they like the additional income, too. The same goes for State and local governments! They get a percentage of the higher cost, and we can blame it on t...

If the engines are running properly, I would check out grounding first, the sensor second and the gauge last. The easiest way to check the sensor would be to switch it with the one from your other engine. The immediate hot reading makes me suspect a ground wiring problem or debris touching the senso...

From what I was told when I was considering putting a Stainless steel half round over my aluminum rubrail, there is the problem of dissimilar metals in contact with each other and exposure to salt water. I was advised to leave a strip of tape between the two and use a liberal amount of Tef-Gel in th...

Regulations are going nuts. Flew the other day and took my 3 oz (or less) toiletries in my hand luggage in a gallon zip-lock bag. No way in hell is that a legitimate IGFA record fish. The captain of the larger boat has probably set a record for stupidity for gaffing a green Mako...and then doing it in his head. He's lucky it didn't jump in the boat. If you want to immobilize a Mako and keep it from jumping, it's a gaff south o...

The storm hit Eastern LI pretty hard, but where we are didn't have the kind of flooding the TV news has been showing further down the island and in New England. Brewster filled us in on the Shinnecock area. Any word on how you all are would be appreciated. Walter

Dick-I assume you have a Morse control system. If so, I'd take the cover off the helm throttle/transmission levers and also expose the engine. Start at the engine and disconnect the morse system from the carburetor and the transmission. If you can manually move both at the engine, the problem isn't ...

I have to assume you have looked at the price of today's higher hp outboards. At those prices, plus a new tank (which you won't need if you go diesel) and the resale difference of a boat with a set of diesels vs a pair of outboards with less than a third of the lifespan of diesels, it's a no-brainer...

Don't get me started on MBA"s. They're a living argument for the need for Universal Military Training straight out of high School. Time for the Port hip to be done.
Well, you guys know I had my starboard hip replaced in Mid December and now it's deemed time to replace the port one. I'll be going into NY tomorrow and the surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. If all goes like last time, I'll be discharged on Friday and will be back home that evening. Hopefully, I'll ...
