I was there on Saturday with my cousin from New Jersey, who also mates for me. Unlike Friday, it was busy. The $660,000 Bertram was visited and my cousin quickly observed, "this ain't no fishing boat". No way you can walk around to the bow as there is nothing to hold on to for at least 8 feet from t...

Ordered a whole sweet and sour Sea Bass at a Chinese restaurant once and was presented with a beautifully done whole Sweet and Sour Porgy. The waiter/maitre'd swore up and down in both broken English and Chinese that it was a Sea Bass. Needless to say, we never went there again. Most of the pink fis...

As much as I hate to support them, the only way we'll ever get the ethanol monster killed is if the Environmentalist lobby turns on it. It has to be proven a carcinogen, a water table poisoner, an air polluter, an inflation creator (which it is already) etc. in order to kill it. Right now, the Middl...

The thoughts have been all over the place. Empty the fuel? Where and how to do it safely? You've solved the biggest part by changing your tank. That being the case, and with it being half full in an area with major temperature changes, leaving it as is is almost asking for condensation. I'd fill it,...

There are several B-31 owners in your area plus some yards that have done some beautiful restorations. I have never seen a lift ring on a 31 Bahia Mar and see no reason to put one on. Lifting a B-31 with a pair of diesels and a full tank of fuel with anything else except straps from under the hull i...

You're making a big investment on that rebuild. Given your yard's first recommendation, If the boat runs, I'd launch it and run (not walk) to another yard. That's a Bertram 31 and it's PERFECT. Any changes are cosmetics. Don't screw around with performance diminishing "upgrades". I wouldn't trust th...

You will probably have to find pigtailed 12v sockets with a base lip or press fit a disk around a bare one. after wiring, silicone it down at the base. Then silicone the colored glass/plastic covers and top. It's a pain in the ass job better done when she's on land, but done many times over the year...

Bob-we usually use green crabs because they're easy to get. Break off claws, cut in half, run hook through broken claw hole. Don't use a soft rod as setting the hook in their tough mouths is difficult. You have to set the hook as soon as you feel them. Lift hard at first as they'll dive into structu...

Where it's at it's best (the lead core) is when you're chunking bunker for Bass and there's a current that forces everyone else to use sinkers. The lead core lets the bait to get down very naturally. You may have to let out more line, but you usually catch more fish. Might work for Tuna chunking too...

Thank you Bruce- I am surprised and concerned at how few (if any) know about this and it's potential impact on us. No one seems concerned. Just was contacted by Boat US asking me to contact my Representative and Senator to pass this act ASAP. Vic- I had a similar incident(s) with my earlier Raytheon Radar. It seems that on a vertical installation, any moisture runs down the printed circuit keypad and often creates corrosion which dissables one of the 2-buttons on the Raytheon "off" system. Brewster is right. I have a Sportsfisherman, so it wasn't a problem. Make sure you pick an ac/dc one. Runs on ac when plugged into shore current, dc when away from the dock. Remember to shut it off when you winterize or haul without shore current or you'll drain the battery it's connected to. Walter
