Greg-Yes, wet sometimes but not all the time. If you're in the Northeast, you should have a bridge enclosure anyway. You can cut some of the side spray with snap-on eisenglass pieces in the curved areas where the overhang on the bridge comes down to the engine boxes. I don't like the look too much, ...

David- Please feel free to tell him you got his number from me. Don't know if there was a price on your internet search, but if you haven't contacted Montauk Marine Basin about the boat, you might get a better price by dealing with him directly. Glad you enjoyed the recipe. Having cooked and eaten e...

David- The yellow Moppie 20 belongs to Bob Fiorese who is one of the Faithful. The boat, before he owned it was long time owned by an avid Fluke fisherman who loved it. It wasnt yellow at the time and was named Baby B. Bob purchased it, repainted and repowered it with a big Volvo. To the best of my ...

I thought that was an Environmental ruling that was national in nature and not just NY State. My marina had to send their staff to classes to be cerificated. They still spill the chips and drip paint on the ground. The guys behind the store counter had to attend classes about the selling of cigarett...

Bob-I would think that if there were Shad or Bunker around, the silver would work well. If neither were around in any abundance, use the green. Troll slow (I use one engine) and troll against the tide. When the spoons are working properly, there's a steady throbbing on the line that shows in the rod...

Sounds like you have the 4D's, which is fine and more manageable from the point of view of your changing them with a friend. The 8-D's usually need a fork lift. If you're doing it, most places want the old batteries or they'll charge you extra. I've gotten mine from Interstate and have been pretty s...

Bob-There seems to be cleaner on the shelves, but the Oil/sealer has pretty much disappeared. Gallon bottles are pretty much gone. If you get a gallon, bring it to the NE Rendezvous and I'll be glad to pay you. The Bass have not appeared at the point as of yet. The method of the past two years have ...

There is a simplicity in the Cummins 6bt series that make them very user friendly. They seem to perform the same no matter what the load. Because the engine has so much use in trucks, many parts are available at truck supply places at lower costs. Most seem to cruise at 7-8 gph. I have a Sportsfishe...

If you mean the pressure gauge that replaces the T-handle on top, They can be very helpful if you have an air leak or clogged filter. I had a hairline crack in the bowl base that was invisible because of where it was. My engine would start up, then die in a few seconds, after which it took a lot of ...

At 4-5 years, sounds like you're at the end of the of the life cycle of your batteries. If one of your 8D's shorted itself out, combined with the fact that your charger was pumping a 20 amp charge into it, might explain it being hot. Also, based on how your boat is wired, one bad battery could drain...

For those who don't want the anchor on the bow, or to anchor from the bow, or have no windlass, you should consider the Northeast charterboat method that keeps the anchor in the cockpit. Tip-Top Teak disappear?
I have been using Tip-top Teak products for 20 years. Their cleaner, brightener and Oil/sealer. Always bought them in the largest containers they sold. Finished cleaning and brightening my deck and started oiling and found I could use some more to make it perfect. My marina, where I usually get it w...

I have a pair of 210's in my Bertram 31. Don't know what your expectations/needs are, but don't sell those engines short as far as power goes. I'm taking a guess here-The Ethanol usually doesn't transport easily and is usually added at the last stage of distribution. If the fuel to the Bahamas is being shipped there from Florida in large quantities, I would suspect it's getting there without the Ethanol. If you're bringing your boat back t...

There's a thread on the site on an Ethanol fuel tester that might be of help. Look for it. Since yours is an outboard version, I am assuming the engine(s?) are being fed from the onboard fiberglass tanks. Inboard problems from Ethanol end up as valves getting glued closed after the engines cool down...
