When you're down an engine and coming back on one, you're putting a big strain on any engine trying to get your boat up on plane on one. That's asking a lot of it. I would recommend taking more time getting back IMHO.

I dug up my old manual and can't believe there is not some sort of schematic in the back. Have you tried googleing the unit? There seem to be people who have all the manuals of dated instruments and there might be a more detailed manual that has a schematic.

Your idle is too slow. You have transmission "slap". I had a similar problem when I had Chrysler 440's. 50 more rpm's cured it. Also, check for anything that might have loosened by virtue of the impact of your grounding. It would explain the noise in reverse. Might not even be the tranny.

Right hand and left handed motors (if that's what you have) usually have different firing orders (and if I remember correctly, different timing marks). If the changing of prop directions is the result of your transmissions, then they would be the same.
