We used mono rigger line tensioned via a jam cleat hidden under the gunnel to adjust the rigger tension on the lines and I found that a little bit of tension downward took alot of the shake out of the system. The base tube is available in different lengths 4ft 6ft 8 ft etc. When you order the riggers you should ask for the custom base tube in the length you decide. Our overall length is 28 ft. You had another advantage in your install. It looked like the outside stringers were "lower" than normal. Is that were you got the extra height to run over the top with stock engine boxes?

Vince, We pulled out our Cummins to redo the engine beds and bilges as part of our restoration. Depending how far you are going with your refit there are a few options. Scot,
The material is the same as the textured rubber on a fighting chair footrest. Murray Products or one of the other manufacture's may be able to get you some.
Also saw some in the Lewis Marine catalog, its called Pyramid mat Fig 4137 on page 746. $46.95 per yard list.

Good luck

If you are using the woven remeber to put mat on each side of it. This helps keep the resin from running out of the woven and leaving you with a weak bond. It also helps reduce some of the heavy texture the woven leaves if you are planning on finishing the area off.

For 8k you could have a custom fabricated aluminum half tower. My guess is you could get a 3 sided enclosure for that money with it. You would have to use the old rag top design with a fiberglass skin for the top. Look into that they don't need replacing every 8 years.
