Working in a boat yard that does a lot of insurance repair work, this is where the good insurance deal ends. Some insurance companies have good policy prices but they don't like to pay. We fight with insurance companies all the time and Boat US is one of the worst.

Here at the marina when we replace a tank we attach 1/2 inch poly strips athwart to the bottom of the tanks about six inches apart to keep the area under the tank dry and breathable. I think using foam just collects moisture and cuts the life expectance of the tank.

When we remove a tank from a boat we first zip grind the tabbing around the edges and then while the boat is still in the water we fork lift out the tanks. Being in the water creates suction but also much safer, don't need a boat fall off it's stands.

I have a 25B with 3.7LX Merc's 190hp. I am up on plan around 15/16 knots, its one the easiest planning boat Ive ever run and being in the boat buis I have run my share. I would say this falls in the fast/easy planning section.

Like I said relining is not money saver and in some cases not practical. But if it can be done and done right it's final with standing Ethanol at any percentage, with Aluminum its a good choise for now but not final.

Tanks in Marinas, Gas Station and Chemical Industry are made from different fiberglass and resins. There is suitable fiberglass cloth, resins and coatings to redo the inside of your tank if you choose. I don't have my file on this handy at this time or I would give you some info.

We have replaced tanks in two 28 Bertrams 1972 and 1975. The 75 had gelcoat inside the tank, the 72 not. Out of the nine boats none had gelcoat on the outside.
I for one are not saying one way or another the gelcoated tanks would withstand E-Gas.
