Gents- To remove my prop shaft I had to press it out of the coupler. I got some longer coupling bolts and put sockets of increasing lengths in between the shaft and the transmission, then tighten down the bolts - remove the bolts - insert a bigger socket and repeat. http://www.msgdeals.com/images/IM...

I do not wish to confuse gas rules with diesels---: For gassers I thought I was required to have a passive ventilation plan that presented some flow and not just a static vent - so forward vents in the engine space and an exhaust at the transom. My boat is a 1972 FBC. I believe the 2 forward 2 aft shell vents were standard from the factory for my boat. The aft vents were plumbed to the spot Pete refered to in the center of the transom.

Thanks. My blowers are flange mounted to their own exhausts on the hull in each engine space. The shell vents were plumbed to the center of the transom spot you described.
I reckon a 3000 CFM blower would lower engine temps.... I've got a 105 CFM Jabsco blowers in each engine space...

I think you will be better off with denatured alcohol... try a home store or hardware store not the boat store. I think acetone will accomplish the same purpose but require more precautions in its application and require more product.

Thanks for those thoughts. I think I have a No Tech deck... just thick plywood with stringers athwartships. Lotsa bedding compound and fastened at the fore and aft edges.

Might people be standing behind the seat and need something to hold on to if a wave comes? If so I'd vote for higher.
Can you determine if the higher back would block your view of some of the cockpit when standing?

I believe my gear is as delivered from the factory. 1972 FBC with gas engines. The center of the rudder shaft to the intersection of the transom is approx. 8 inches. I know of a yacht that had nickel plated interior fittings and a sink in the head. The owner specifically didn't want chrome, he thought it too flashy. I understand he is pleased with how it turned out.
I am not aware of external hardware or anything exposed to exhaust gasses.

Maybe try removing the pump from its base and seeing of there is any blockage and clean out the strainer?
I know the light should come on but just trying to do the easiest/cheapest stuff first...

I believe Bill Gilbane owns it. New England Boatworks in Portsmouth RI has done extensive work with new Cummins and rebuilding the windows, etc. Dam slick unit by my eye.

+1 on that angle jig. I used it for all my rod holders. I mounted the jig to a scrap board to allow for clamping. +2 I found that jig helpfull but a little wobbly (I think it was like $15 at Job Lot).
