Steve- Others here can advise you better but- The shaft zincs I have used have a bronze BB set into each half. When I install the zincs I tighten them and then hit them on either side with a metal hammer. I think this sets the BB into the zinc and provides good conductivity. I then go back and tight...

Also consider the pulley size (make sure the alternator is operating in the correct RPM range for efficiency at your cruise power setting) and perhaps double belts for the higher output alternators.

I Think this is the best picture I have and admit it isn't very good. I just mounted to the rails on either side of the bridge. The center mount is under downward load so i just used screws there. My impression is all the radios have many more features than I use. I have a Garmin VHF 200 because it is NMEA 2000 and works with my chartplotter. That looks excellent and is the answer to many of the benefits of an express style boat in my opinion. Would you make a soft cover to snap over the controls when running. Heat is a good ally to defeat 5200. I think it takes 200 deg but the 5200 will fail then and you can back the screw out. If the heads break and there is enough fastener sticking up yanking with a vice grip or a pry bar can work. If they broke off flush and you don't mind making the hole a little big...

I use Shell Rotella T 15W/40 in my 1989 Crusader 454s.
Local gas on Narragansett bay is usually 89 octane with ethanol. I add Sta-Bil marine to make myself feel better.
