DQ,
There are only a hand full of us down here in South Florida, but if it is somewhere within striking distance, you can count on me.

Rust, Rust Rust
I was out sitting on the dock this afternoon after the rain and got to looking at my lift to see how the rust has been progressing. It looks like I had better get on the stick and do some re-painting. I was thinking of using some naval jelly to help get a start on removing some of it and then the ol...

Scooter28, I've already replaced my 190 gallon tank after thinking seriously of doing the relining bit, but ruled it out based on what I've read. But, I am curious about your project. Did you use any glass or just use the vinylester resin? Did you pull the baffles and how did you do it? My tanks baf...

Boy Capt. P. I know that cabin feaver feeling. When I lived in Alaska for 30 some years and you get down to winter soltice when there was only a possibility of 4 to 5 hours of actualy sunlight. My favorite passtime was going to hockey games and venting frustration. It was such a good therapy that I ...

PaulJ Wow, what a state of affairs. No one needs that kind of excitement out on the water or even at the dock for that matter. If you didn't blow a rod through the oil pan then there is a possibility that an oil line to or from a remote oil filter ruptured or the filter itself corroded enough to rup...

John, I hooked up a hose with a pump bulb on it and attached it to one of the fittings coming right out of the tank. If you can get the container you are filling below the tank, it will siphon. I let it siphon and pumped at the same time. I got 53 gallons out and then I puled the siphon tube out and...

DougL, The boat in question is in the mid 80's. You can disagree all you want, but the post I made was not based on my own personal opinion. There have been numerious scientific tests under labratory conditions performed that prove otherwise. These tests were enabled by not only BoatUS, but the US C...

JD, If the original tank is fiberglass, which it is, then it is an issue. There are many articles referenced within this site that conclude without a doubt that ethanol will disolve the resin from a fiberglass tank made before the late 90's and deposit it in the engine. The damage comes from the con...

SteveZ, I have gassers, but if I don't have a full filter of fuel, I just suck air. My Racors suck from the top, so if it's not full, bingo, no ignition. I'd just make sure the filters are full to the top. In fact I cary a small fuel can with a half gallon of fuel in it to do just that in case the f...

Just a footnote to this project. Most of you have probably already thought of this, but in case you haven't, then check your fuel lines. If they are as old ast the boat or more than 10 years old, you should change them for the new improved CG approved and ethanol proof lines. The hose itself should ...

Bruce, Mt. House and a few other similar companies based around Salt Lake used to make Long Range Patrols (LRP) for the military. We used them in Mt. I’m finally getting around to removing the 190 gallon tank from my B28. What a joy this has been, especially in the SW Florida hot sun. It looks like it's time to bite the bullet and get a tank made to replace my 190 gallon fiberglass tank in my 1983 B28. Now that's a clamp. Titanium stopped bullets from hitting me in the ass on a Rescue Chopper, it can damn sure stop corrosian. Stuart, I've spent a ton of money replacing all of my exhaust hose clamps and dripless clamps on my B28, putting double clamps on each and every one. As far as I am concerned, the "T" bolt clamp is one of the best as long as you get them in a decent stainles alloy like 316 or even 303. Those hoses t...
