Harry,

The outside of the air filter on the intake where the vent tube from the valve cover is attached was covered with carbon. Your guess is probably correct. I hope to get back to it this afternoon and see if I can find out why there is so much carbon in the vent.

Cliff,

I have a 1983 B28 with 300 HP Horizons with 1 1/4 shafts. The props are 17x16 with WOT at 4400-4800. I cruise 20+ kts at 2950 rpm and at WOT I've got her up to 32kts. I get 1.1-1.25 knots per gallon depending on conditions.

I've been using a Port Cable for years. I've got one that I sanded the bottom gel coat off of two boats and she is still kicking. I can hook a shop vac to it and it will pick up about 2/3 of the dust.

Ditto what every one said here. I've had a neutral switch go out on me. And, on my 300 Merc Horizon engines, they both rotate conventional. The counter rotation is in the transmission linkage hookup.

Steve,

I removed the blue striping and the painted Bertram name using wet 360 and then used wet 600 and buffing compound to blend it all in. It worked fine. I replaced the painted name with a stainless one just under the bertram logo.

Same thing happened to me that happened to Giff. My horns stopped working so I adjusted the pitch and they work fine now. The adjusting screw had some thread lock on it, so don't forget to put some back on or the vibration may undo the adjustment.

The whacker had to have a new carb. The old one was gummed up from some thing the E10 disolved and it was all through the little chambers through out the carb. They weren't sure, but they thought it was some of the seal material. The new carb. has E10 proof seals, they said.
