Re: Garmin acquires Navionics.. yes, really!
Tony it would seem to me the future is the data of those Apps. The actual electronics device seems to me to be on its way out as we know it. Black box sonar, GPS and charts built into tablets like an IPad. All wireless. The idea of 5k for a 10” screen multifunction may go away. We can debate that I ...

Re: Garmin acquires Navionics.. yes, really!
Yannis - as a standalone app on an iPad I would imagine it would be fine. However, I purchased a new Raymarine Axiom Multifunction display, Raymarine's Lighthouse Software supports a number of different cartography providers including Navionics and CMAP. I particularly liked the Navionics software ...

I already started a inventory list of what is existing, what I want to add and remove. I guess I need engage someone locally to get an estimate. I am a bit of a minimalist. Want as few things as possible that require maintenance like AC, fridge etc.

Rewiring, where to start
So this isn’t a project I can or want to do myself but I recognize I need to plan it out in someway. I have 50 years of add ons. Original breaker panel. Fuse block on the bridge that doesn’t shut off at the breaker. Saltwater wash down tied directly two the battery. The list goes on and on. I think ...

There is a great YouTube video of an outboard conversion. Looks really nice.

It's getting there. The plan is to get everything on the bridge where I want it and then worry about new panels. Ultimately I need the bridge to be painted. Almost 50 years of old holes. http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu280/peterpalmieri/Fishing%20Photos/Bertram%2031/3A541E50-09B3-484C-B306-A716...

Re: Team deck seams
If I go with longer screws they'll likely need to be 3 to 4". If I go the route of finished teak deck sealant. I'd likely need to insert some 1/8 or 1/4" foam tubing so the sealant doesn't drip down and sag. Any problem with that?

Peter What ever you do, make sure you have a hand held GPS as back up along with paper charts. The combo units are great until something quits on them.
