Re: Anchor chain
I keep a separate anchor in a plastic clam basket just for anchoring in the bay, relatively small fluke anchor with 5-6 feet of galvanized chain. Light enough for a guest to assist me with. I keep it in the cockpit, run the line up to a bow cleat and drop it from the cockpit. If the wind and tide ar...

Great South Bay - anchor up for breakfast
Seeing posts by Peter with his new boat in Oakdale, Chris in Lindenhurst. I'm in Babylon, Bob Lico is in Oakdale, Craig Mac is in Bellmore? Ed Curry in Lindenhurst and there are some others. Why don't we plan on meeting up early on a Saturday or Sunday morning, raft up for breakfast somewhere betwee...

Re: Engine stalls and restarts immediately
My first suggestion is to rig up a bucket with 5-6 ft of a good strong rope, drill holes in a strong part of the bucket and hang it off the mid ship cleat of the engine that is running. That will keep the boat running straight in the case you can't get that second motor started up. I've run back to ...

Actually the opposite, didn't look so good in the morning. We held off to after lunch, it was partly sunny. Went out got totally fogged in, couldn't see anything. Got back to the dock, cleaned the boat, the fog lifted, clouds parted and it was a perfect afternoon on land. Adding the radar dome is th...

Test results were great. No signs of cancer, don't have to go back for a year. Very happy PSA levels are good, a few small hernias and kidney stone that aren't bothering me or getting worse. We got out on the boat Sunday for an hour in the fog, but I'm ready to go now!

Hey Peter---are you rigging with 3-way swivel like they do a Plum Gut? I only do that if I'm fishing up against the rocks, around the inlet. I have 454s replaced one of the blocks and bolted on all the newer replacement parts, carb, oil pan, alternator etc. I think the block was $3500 and the yard charged $1500 for the swap. So 5k and I have essentially a new motor. I will certainly do the same with the other side when the time comes..
