Re: Side window replacement
I do like the larger aft bulkhead windows, it's just not an either or for me. Someday I may expand them and it will create even more light and view ability. In my defense, I am very consistent. In a neighborhood of mostly 1920s homes I am the only house with an original slate roof and steel casement...

Remember I’m in the water 12 months a year no shore Power and no generator. I spent many years fishing with the guys but I rarely leave the dock without the wife and kids. That includes fishing in April and November. My wife has lupus so extended periods of being in the sun is very bad. 360 degree v...

Carl, We are running the same hustle, when money or time is of no concern fancying things up a bit doesn't hurt anyone. I look at the sum of all of the little things and the big things and think I'm getting 80% of the benefits of my 31 for 20% of the cost and I'm okay with that knowing I'm saving my...

Years ago Walter said use the boat a bunch and figure out what you want to do..... One thing I've said for years is I'm not going to die in one of those $3 life jackets, so I only carry the fancy Type 1 offshore vest, 6 or 8 of them. What I did was remove the cabinet and door in the galley under the...

A glass cutter down the middle on the both sides and the old windows will be pushed from the inside out. The old windows will be used as a template and the new plexiglass can be bent enough to get them in place

You guys are pretty funny, Tim I don't see the 35 Bert as a fishing boat but it is a good deal. My thought is though that the 36 is well laid out as is the 35 Cabo or Henriques, you've got to go way bigger or give up the cockpit to get anything more then over under bunks in the cabin. Most of those ...

Re: How much weight on the engine covers?
I'm going to say bad idea. The engine boxes can support two grown men sitting on them (500 lbs) but the way they sit on the lip attached to the bulkhead there is little side to side support. If you strap a heavy load on them and the boat starts pitching side to side it could end badly or fall on som...

Cam I've already installed a paneltronix AC/DC panel. The basics I obviously run the shore power plug into the panel and then out to the outlets, pretty simple stuff. Inserting an inverter, grounding, isolation, size wire etc is my concern.

Re: 21" gunwale height?
The low gunwale height is an advantage to leadering, gaffing and releasing fish. That is one of the many reasons these are sought after sportsfishing boats (lots of other reasons too). I can get my hand in the water without dangerously leaning over the side, that's what you want if you are bringing ...

There is nothing I loath more then pulling wire except maybe not fishing. that being said I do own a couple of wire line rods and occasionally have broken my own rule. Yannis, This is a solution I've been using since 2010. It was recommended by our long standing leaders Capt. Patrick and Walter K. Been using this on my teak deck since I got the boat but I can’t find (my wife) Wisk in the local stores. Online it’s like $75 a bottle. Any idea of what I can substitute? Worried if I just by any old one it’s going to have an ingredient I should be avoiding.

I can see both images. Looks to me like that isn't from the original build. To me that could mean two things either someone added that and didn't do good work or there is an existing problem underneath that they tried to address unsuccessfully. Of course I could be wrong and it is original

Re: Dinette table hardware
Mike that's a great Idea that I have been considering.
What I can't do is mount a base plate as there is a hatch in the deck. So I could use a mounting plate underneath the table with a large rubber cap on the bottom of the leg. Is that what you were thinking?

The lowest point in the boat is just aft of the v berth. That is where most of the water collects. My boat has been in the water 12 Months a year since 2010. In the winter I occasionally go do down to the boat and use a hand pump to get it dry. When the boat is up on plane the water runs aft to that...

Re: 46mph Bertram 31 !
In the case of the triple outboard express style boat, they actually extended the hull by 3 feet it's not just an armstrong bracket. That adds running surface and buoyancy, that boat should run much different.
