2020 Season
For my friends here who are not on Facebook. Here is a recap of the 2020 season. Started off with the boat being stolen and recovered. Many trips with our family this year. My two little boys have worked their way up to the title of crew. Shannon has been recovering from being hit by a car and wasn’...

I think for budgeting you should assume that everything under the decks and inside the engine boxes would need to be done. Struts, shafts, rudders and shelf, fuel tank, deck supports, engine beds and wiring.

Is t it a joy. They pulled the buoys for the Babylon and Lindenhurst cut a few weeks back. It’s a real nail biter now. We got forced aground in the summer when a 40’ boat decided to take over the state channel and push us off course between frank and ducks and cedar.

A good compromise could be switching over to dual function controls freeing up one side for a 12” display and flush mounting a 7” on the other side.

Re: Trolling motor
They’re already using a Minnkota ST112 on a 27 Sea Vee bay boat. We know it works in calm conditions with a boat with a shallower V bottom and very little windage. Once you get a heavier boat, that has more boat under the surface and more to catch the wind. And you try to use it effectively in wind,...

Re: Dual Screens Vs Single 3 in 1 Screen
The money is in modifying the bridge not the screens.
With a helm pod and single lever controls mounting big screens is no doubt the way to go. The 7” fits on a stock bridge nicely.
Someday maybe I’ll buy a new 31 that did a bridge modification.

The idea of having spot lock and not having to anchor over small pieces is becoming very popular. It’s a very effective way to fish. Never imagined the tech would move so quickly it wasn’t long ago that any boat over 20 feet was an issue. It will still be a challenge in ocean rollers to keep the pro...

Thus far I’ve been able to live without my reading glasses on the bridge but I can see that becoming a problem. The best part is they fit without modifications. 454s similar performance numbers to Craig. As long as your not doing long trips they are no problem. That being said if you are looking to buy a boat it’s not that much more to find one with diesels.

Wreck anchor technique is always mark the spot using a shark float, some fishing line and a large sinker. Drift off it and then drive in The opposite direction. Drop the anchor and let enough line out. If you aren’t close enough to boat hook the float start over. Attach the line to the end of the an...

Bob, these stories never get old. My boat isn’t high tech or reimagined; a 50 year old boat with 454s. We run down the beach and it inevitably kicks up in the afternoon.
