Just revisiting this thread and reading through all the thoughtful comments. I'm now taking notes so I can have a plan. I am planning on getting the boat over to the marina to come out of the water beginning of march. At this point I am torn as to how far to take this project. Part of me says new sh...

Bob was nice enough to give me a tour of Phoenix and scratched the surface of the modifications he's done. Many many small modifications when all combined add up to more then the sum of the parts. His fuel burn numbers are significantly better then another b31 with the same engines. When i first wal...

I also frequent snake hill. Although with my flats boat i can run over any of those bars at any tide as long as you cant see exposed sand. Generally speaking any deep vee boat is going to have trouble with that area at low tide. There is a reason the boat US guy drops anchor back there on the weeken...

Back at my original question. Palm Beach Lady / Match Maker is the only boat ive seen with the front glass enclosed but instead of the side windows angled back these are angled forward providing some additional light. I dont think it takes away from the lines of the boat. Who did the work on that bo...

Vic- the beauty of the 31 is 2,Two, engine compartments.if one autoshuts down the other should keep going long enough to avoid that tanker, and if both go-bail- not your day I could be totally off base but in reading most systems shut down both engines regardless of which extinguisher goes off. At l...

From what ive read away from this site and i am by no means an expert on this topic. With out the engines shutting down the fire supresent is quickly sucked out the exhaust and will not put out any fire. Which leads me to think that without the engine shutdown the extinguishers may be useless. I am ...

Pete, You can always do what I do since my boat isn't ready..... drive out by car and enjoy the festivities. I will be hopeful that the boat is in good enough condition to make the trip. If not i will certainly drive. That is if it is on Long island, i dont think i can commit to anything further at...

I have found that these are the best vertical fly rod holders. If I could figure out how to mount two sets of four to the bridge or a pedestal launcher I'd be set. They don't safely mount to a horizontal railing so I may need to have a plate fabricated. http://stores.theifly.com/catalog/quadbig2.jpg...

Peter- are you looking to have these stripped for running or would you have the leader and tippet spooled? I will most likely bunge in my two fly line tamers To the stern cleates which allows me to run with two rods ready to cast. What i need to figure out is if i should come up with a rocket launc...

John 6" may be to high i will have to give it some thought. Randall & Walter, since you guys seem to have some serious offshore fishing experiences and some real time on a B31. Can you share with me your thoughts on the best way to rig up the boat to carry rigged fly rods? With my flats boat i usual...

Being new to the site. Can you all fill me in on the details. Do these typically take place during the week or on the weekend. How many days is it? Someone gets a price for the marina, are there arrangements made for any meals or is it all on your own? Not sure my boat will be ready for a trip to Gr...

Ed A min get together in the winter sounds like a great idea. We can hang on my boat for a while and then head into town for lunch. It would be centrally located for the guys out west and east. I can do it the week between xmas and new years or we can wait until after the holidays. Great to meet you.i

When we ge. A warm day after new years i will probably pull it off the boat and bring it home. I am not sue what the underside is mad out of but i will look to replace that if it needs it and have the canvas redone. I think i can just block up the outer edges and under the center stantion. And off s...

I couldnt figure out how to get the outrigger poles out. The base actually can be removed with pins but i was trying to get the fiberglass poles put of the bases. Well there is some bad news about owning a 31 Bertram. The winter slip is along the road. I was down there trying to get a few things done before she is officially done for the season. Three seperate guys stopped, got out of their car and chewed my ear off about what a great boat it is. One of them ...

Randall, You guys will appreciate this flats boat. I had it custom made and it is perfect for that kind of fishing. Supper stable, silent in the water, drifts well and its almost maintenence free. The boat is solid below the decks, accept for a pipe that runs from the console to the stern for the ri...
