It is definitely ethanoled. It cranks but doesn't run, it's been an ongoing issue but I think this is it. Sounds like it's not getting fuel I'm hoping it's not catastrophic. This happened once before and simply went away. My guess is with a bit of a lumpy ride yesterday some of that gummed up crap l...

Thanks to Brews Bucket
Coming home yesterday with my parents, wife, son, niece and nephew my starboard motor decided to kick out at 20 knots. I was about a mile from the river I keep the boat on and another mile and a half to the dock. Thanks to brews advice, since I don't have the oversized rudders I keep a 5 gallon lowe...

Hey guys this will be my first over night trip on the Bertram. A few questions. I do not have a gererator or inverter but I do have shore power. Thinking about bringing a small microwave and coffee maker from the house. Also a small camping BBQ. Will of course load up the cooler with drinks, fruit, ...

I spent all three days of the holiday weekend on the water. Between CG, Suffolk police and DEC one was almost always in site within the bay. As was sea tow and boat US, waiting for the idiots. I for one follow all the rules so I don't mind a spot check here and there. I wish the authorities would fo...

There is a local guide in Babylon al lorenzetti who has site where locals post fishing reports. www.skimmeroutdoors.com I found it posted there originally. It said it's from 1936. Likely Collins Ave in sayville was named after his family. I grew up in sayville and mentioned the video to Bob Lico but...

I recently found out on my boat..... I have 2 batteries and 2 battery switches each says 1,2, both or off. From the factory they are wired basically on and off, one battery dedicated to each motor and will not charge off the other motor. Parallel switch on the bridge allows me to start either engine...

Valvtect Marine Fuel
What do you know about these guys? There is a station in Bay Shore, better known as the Point of Woods Gas dock. The claim is specially formulated marine fuel, and the guys at the dock say no need for additional additives. Any different then the rest? http://www.valvtect.com/marineFuelGasoline.asp "...

Tommy, good questions. I will be interested in hearing the experts. I believe most of the engine hours were put on pre ethanol. The boat has been out of the water and for sale for some time now prior to the current owner. There is a another B31 in my marina with newer gas motors and a fiberglass tan...

Hey guys was planning on taking out my boat to go sharking on the fly tomorrow. As it turns out I'm not all that comfortable that the boat is running good enough to make the run without worry. I have to say I got a bit of a laugh from Harrys explanation of the dangers of the Harlem river, although I am not surprised. Marlin, another thought that may effect your decision. Since the starboard motor seems to be running pretty good again, I can only guess some of the ethanol build up is burning out. Clogged up the fuel system and creating smoke. Seems it has now burned off. I'd also guess this problem may occur again. As for my idling issue with the port motor, I've got...
