You are correct walter. You need to step to the side to let them in and out. You can easily do it without letting go of the wheel but certainly a draw back. I do the same when someone wants to swing their legs over the bench anyway so I don't see it as a draw back. On the upside two men can stand co...

The simple answer is they dont :-D The ladder built into the tower is pretty easy to use and allows me a full size cushion on the engine box. I also have a 2 step plastic box that I throw on the engine box when I am going up and down working at the dock. It works as a boarding step at the transom wh...

Here are some pictures in progress, I used a crate and some wood to get the right locations to take measurements. The pictures are before I shimmed up the back and the port side a bit to level things off. http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu280/peterpalmieri/912f5f9a.jpg http://i655.photobucket.com...

This project is being delayed a few weeks. Was going to bring the boat over to a friends marina where the dock bulkheads are low and allow the work to be easy. Of course with the storm they pulled all their boats and still working to get everything back in and the yard in order. It's always somethin...

Wanted to update this thread. And of course a question. I removed the bench seat and mocked up the location of the new seats, it will all fit easily within the existing rail so I luckily don't need to remove the rail or spend money now to have something fabricated. Had the welder down to take measur...

Did my usual commute over the Robert Moses Causeway this morning the bay was glass calm. In either direction you could see pilings and piles of debri everywhere. Looked like a mine field out there. If your planning on being out on the water anywhere where Irene hit be very careful. Based on what I s...

I learned my lesson here. The topic of to haul or not to haul will likely not come up again soon for me. We got lucky and a 4 foot surge on a new moon tide was manageable. If we got the higher end of that 7 feet or more I would have been in trouble staying in the water. God help us if we ever get a ...

Dan, You are absolutely right. Some people don't have a clue. While I was down at the boat on Saturday, other boat owners were asking some interesting questions. Like do you think I should loosen my lines or tighten them. Think I should go home and grab a few extra lines or bumpers. Obviously they d...

It's almost a mile north of the bay. You can see the trees blowing pretty good. Remember at that point in the tide everyone's lines were stretched tight. A good sign was that the village fire department moved their boat into the basin on Saturday night. A few hours after that video I watched the chr...

Ed your thinking is it that the small lines will hold it tight in place but break away if there is a massive surge? Stay safe buddy! I've hesitated on this decision. Ran out last night everyone is sold out of everything. I called wise first thing this morning and they are overnighting me the Honda 2000. Can I run both home refrigerators at once with this one? Wouldn't be shocked if it fell off the truck before making it to my door.

Concern is also tie down points Cleats on dock can easily pull loose, I'll run lines to the guard rail in case the cleats give way. I'm in the old eab plaza in Uniondale. Building shook violently, everyone evacuated safely. My tv mounted to the wall almost fell down.
Safe and orderly evacuation of two 16 floor towers, we have a drill 2x per year.
Hope everyone is safe. [/list]

Bow chock
Pretty simple question. I picked up a bow chock from Charlie F.
I'm not sure if they are all the same or not. This particular one has 3 holes, anybody know what size screws/fasteners are used. Washers or a backing plate?
Thanks.
