Thank you very much Capt Patrick and Rawleigh. My thru hulls with inboard strainers are located just inside the shaft logs. Crash valves should be center line of the boat, I'd assume the current location is not optimal. Pairing the bilge strainer with the service adapter on the sea cock would seem t...

Bob, I love you Montauk guys throwing back 45lb schoolies not even interested in snapping a photo to share with the rest of us. I am planning on running down to sunken forest (about 15 miles east from the inlet) on Sunday. Will be very happy if we find fish and great day if we get a few over 20lb. O...

There is no place in the world like Montauk in the fall. Thanks for the report Walter. Last Friday I was out in Montauk about 2 miles from where Walter is talking about. No bass but 10-12lb false albacore everywhere and relatively easy to hook with a fly rod. Just amazing how you can have two bodies...

So I'd like to replace the plywood backing in the anchor locker while I am putting back the bow chock, deck pipe and moving the cleats. Can I use coosa board for this? And if so how? As I understand I can not use self taping screws into the coosa and everything needs a backing plate. Is this a good ...

Did some research over the weekend on electric cars. The chevy volt 40 miles on electric also has a gas motor. Nissan leaf 100 miles and then plug in. Not enough range to interest me, as I commute 70 miles per day. Leaves little to no wiggle room. The tesla has options for 200-300 miles per plug in....

While I don't drink on the boat I still love the premise. Not sure where the safety gear and electronics will go but I'll be damned if I can't get a cold beer while up on the bridge. Is that a cebrera v birth kit as well? Can you tell me the cost or pm if you don't want to post it publicly. Did it d...

Spencer that is a lot of work, looks great. There is a drop out box under the pod, is that going to hold electronics or be a foot rest? Looks to me that it will hold gauges or electronics like zero cavity but also with the box glassed in as a seat base it seems it would interfere with leg room. Mayb...

As it turns out there was plywood glassed in very poorly supporting the deck in the anchor locker and there is no plywood under the headliner accept where it supports the windshield. It was to hard to get a decent pic with lack of light. Wood doesn't seem wet but the glass holding it up is poorly do...

Whacky motor
The port motor starts right up and then stalls. I prime it and eventually get it to turn over and it runs fine but takes some work. Only happens when it sits for a few days or more. The starboard motor starts right up and runs no problem. most time needs no priming. I believe I've read about this in...

Bob, Was down at the shop in Babylon. None of the star drag reels engage by turning the handle. They are all manual, accept smaller baitcasters like a Calcutta or 975. Anything bluefin capable at least. The Avet MX isn't much more work then a star drag reel, that part of the question is answered pre...

Bob I'm still figuring some of these things out. A big advantage to a 975 is you drop it in free spool and when you turn the handle the reel engages. With an Avet or any level drag you need to engage and disengage, it's a bit of a pain since diamond jigging bass is 3 or 4 turns and drop again. The A...

I've got a couple of Calcutta 700s with 30# line on Diawa 7' heavy casting rods I use for small yellowfin jigging, cobia, tarpon and the like. Thanks JP. What model of the terez rods do you use? The seeker Hercules rods are great for jigging and chunking but from what I understand don't hold up well for trolling.
