hmmmm...it's normally not practical to protect the high amperage wire from battery to engine starter. 600 - 1000+amps. Generally you keep the run short and the wire big to avoid issues. Tony, I wasn't clear. The max RPM range for the engine is 5400 - 6000rpm. The Sharrow prop gets me to 5600 max while the Merc was a bit too much pitch and I topped out at 5300 and change. That amount of water seems unbelievably high. May want to check the orientation of your vents, vent loops, and look for other ways that rainwater/seawater can get into the system. It's been raining quite a bit up there, right?

I think you are correct regarding the 1/2" ply in the forepeak/cuddy ceiling. The glass is fairly thick so you might be safe with 1/2"or so, screw. Mcmaster has all sorts of edge protectors and grommets you can use for the anchor locker bulkhead.
