I had pulled the hull outside to spray primer on the cap. Warm, sunny day. The bottom of this boat was completely repaired many years ago and now I h...

Corey, You'll need to rebuild the transom before worrying about the bracket. Get it to look like this on the outside, and new wood in the bump out and everything glassed back together. I can't find my inside pictures at the moment. https://www.amazon.com/photos/share/tSxqBCRhCyzUk4qZIQSHgh25SpEc6DG6...

Re: Bracket degree
Wow...I would not recommend that method...for many reasons: 1. The two layers of plywood comprise most/all of the strength and bearing surface to mount your bracket 2. If you cut it flush, you will be left with a gaping hole in the boat...the exact size of the bump out. there is nothing on the insid...

Re: Bracket degree
Yes. With this method you could compare the transom angle to the bracket angle without doing math.
The framing square must be 14" on the short side for the 1/4"= 1 degree conversion to work. The generalized equation for any square is:
Angle(deg) = invTan(measurement (in)/short side of square(in))

Re: Bracket degree
I can't speak for everyone, but when I was considering a bracket, it was custom. You make a template of the transom shape at the mounting height. Or buy one that is straight and unfinished and make filler pieces after install. Or what ever you think might work. Or buy the right model from Armstrong....

Twin bracket or single? The tank on the twin maybe too wide to mount to the bump out - overhangs.

+/- a degree or two shouldn't make that much difference. You might be able to make a shim for the bracket or engine to tweak it.

545 doesn't fill pin holes very well, I doubt it will fill crazed gel coat. It might be worth an experiment though. 545 has no body, its just a primer. Lots and lots of coats. Twice as many if you roll/ brush. And any movement will crack your paint layer. Any paint manufacturer will tell you to grin...

Do you need a splashwell? Takes up a lot of room in a small boat and requires lots of work to fair.

I designed my bilge pump circuits as direct wire. I use a (+) battery lead off the house/start switch (BS 5511e) to feed a 4 slot fuse distribution block that I call the "24 hour" bus. 2 bilge pumps, one memory circuit, one spare. I also wired the float switches up to the helm switch panel to a SPST...

+1. Most of the work is on paper(or excel). Circuit drawings, load calcs, etc. It is possible to re-wire one circuit at a time, but if you are re-doing the whole boat it doesn't make much sense. Good Luck!

I spent a couple of hours at the boat show in Annapolis yesterday. I had to give my body a day off from boat work. What size seacock/thru hull?
It's been a while since I cut a hole in my hull, but JohnV8r is inspiring me to cut! I will have a live well and probably a raw water wash down pump. Since you have the V-drive configuration, I would stick with inboards. Outboard conversion would require a heck of a lot of structural work on the transom. It probably doesn't make sense unless you are taking the boat through a complete rebuild. You can buy 2 new fuel injected 350s for the price a s...

I think you are being too hard on yourself. It looks fine..better than fine. A mil or two can't make that much difference. Rub or spray some wax on it, let it cure up hard, and put it to work!
