Snipe - love the recess hinges! Router with a template?? I too have the pull up cleats, good choice. That shot of your son(?) is terrific!
The chrome work looks great. Can you share the shop that did this? I need to re-re-chrome some pieces.
Thanks

Running around the ICW on my friend's 17 whaler and had to take a picture of this big Bertram. Love the name! Anyone have an idea what size this one is or its age?

Thoughts: - hard pads in the lay up for mounting "stuff"....antennas, radar, anchor light, etc. - add a box enclosure to store all the loose stuff from the helm area, VHF, etc. This is much easier to work with for wiring compared to home running everything through an aluminum support tube. - Cockpit...

Call Integrity.
If you want to replace it with PVC, this is what I used on my 25 and it fits/looks great:
Rub Rail - R1072 (from Integrity/Barbour Plastics)
Insert - STA2416H 3/4" hollow 316SS
End caps - SSMD

Snipe - Yes, I used Awlgrip (not Awlcraft 2000) for the deck work. Thin coats of paint to avoid chemical entrapment which will prevent curing! I need to dig out my Awlgrip application guide and see how I should re-coat the surface. A project for next fall. The toughest part is re-tapping!

I recommend Soft Sand - https://www.softsandrubber.com/. Easy to apply, but even better, it's easy to clean. It's a long story, but I have both soft sand and Awlgrip griptex on my boat. I like it! My concern is weight and buoyancy. You are going to have to add significant weight to the hull, in the right places, to get it to float correctly and not bob like a cork.

I like the one piece design of the B35. It's probably more effective at keeping water and debris out. Instead of the hinged access, I would try to develop a "lift and slide" mechanism.
