I like the teak and swim platform! It's great that the hull is painted! My fuel tank label is adjacent to the sender/pickups, but I don't know if there is a standard for placement. Thanks! My goal is to get it wet and running for my 10th anniversary (boat project anniversary) in August. I'll probably keep it up here for fall/winter to work upholstery and pipe work, etc. Re-position cruise to NC next spring - Potomac, Chesapeake, ICW to Wilmington, NC.

I bought my hull in 2003 with freshwater used I/Os knowing I wanted outboards, I ran the I/Os and chased gremlins for a whole lot of years. Everyone is encouraging you to run the boat, as is, for the summer. Maybe make it your "lake boat" to stay close to shore and parts stores. You'll work it out....

Next time you are out on Lea Island, or cruising Banks channel, or running the ICW, or walking a marina in the area, count the number of I/O boats you see.
If you see one, it is likely owned by a northern transplant that has just moved to the area and hasn't had the time to sell it.

Most of it was brute force with epoxy fairing compounds, but I did use some 2oz cloth forward of the gas fills to see if that would cut down on the "fill, sand, repeat cycles", and it did. I agree with Yannis. The stringers form a nice plane to set a flat deck. If you want it raised, just add a spacer on top. And you don't really need bulkheads outboard of the stringers. If you are going with twin tanks then you can surely make use of the space occupied by the center fiberglass stringer. A gigantic center rigging tube running down the center of the boat would be great, and easier to work with than going outboard. In hindsight, now that I'm rigging, I wish I had used...

If your not planning on running it, I'm not sure a sea trail will yield any useful information other than it floats. I guess it depends on how $$ you are spending. The engines/outdrives are worth scrap prices. Everything else, probably less.

It doesn't seem reasonable that the boat trims on the chines with removal of iron from belly. Based on photos I've seen, if you put twin bracket outboards on a 25, the stern sits very low. The same should be true for the 31. 31 gassers float high, right? I notice that they do not show the hole shot ...

It's just about impossible to sand all the nooks and crannies. I used every tool in the box and finally said it's close enough. The thickened resin and glass will bridge the depressions. Self-Created Problem...another good boat name. Hard Spots. I was very careful about how I installed bulkheads and other support structure to the hull sides. Guess what? They all print through to one extent or another. I think the only way to avoid (or minimize) is to tab in only, no glue in the gap....

That looks like a good one! Running, driving boat on a trailer for less than $10k. Clean it up and use it this summer, then tear it apart!
You must a have BIG garage. On a trailer you'll need 30+ feet of depth and a minimum of 14 feet of width. Pretty tall, too.
