Re: Bertram 25 conversion to an outboard powered CC
Highly weird. Torqueing down the NPT end offers a great opportunity to snap off that long, thin section tube. In fact, how would you apply torque to that pipe adapter? There's nothing to hold onto unless you want to ruin the threads with a clamp, or have someone under the boat securing the thru-hull...

My original post did not. Are you mixing pipe and straight threads? That thru-hull should be straight thread. Mixing is not a good idea.

2nd on the blue seas clamp solution. Your bracket height looks about the same as mine. I used a similar method to "estimate" the vertical center of the transom. There is no absolute datum. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/zHXtS7xlQ_yRTjspqHn2tw.ThqjlRWaKggdM-jk7vN60a A couple of notes: - with a ...

Marketing math. I'm not convinced there is a winning energy density trade off that points to battery-power AC over diesel generator. However, if you were looking for a silent way to recharge a battery bank while on the hook, consider a methanol fuel cell (https://www.my-efoy.com/en/efoy-fuell-cells/...

Re: Batteries vs Generator?
10k BTU is roughly 3kwh. 3000 watt-hours. If 12 volts, that's a 250 amp-hour battery system, so 2 or 3 regular 100 amp-hour batteries for each hour of operation. I think it's going to take a large battery bank to power an AC for any length of time.

That Bahama Blue color was the right choice. I love it. I taught myself how to cut and buff paint the other day. Sounds like fun! I'd love to read a diary of the trip when you get a chance.
If you need/want a free slip for a night in Wilmington, NC, let me know. Mine is open right now while my B25 is in the drive way for annual maintenance. 35 foot slip.
Good luck

250 should be fine, depending on your attitude towards speed. My 300 G2 makes peak power at 4600 rpm through redline at 6100. I almost never run it up there except for getting on plane quickly. Big, huge prop really helped my boat cruise at slower speeds. You'll likely find that you need to be aroun...

Thought: If your goal is to expand the seating capacity, you could remove the "ears" that extend from aft of the helm area and make a new piece of structure (from pipe work and/or fiberglass) to enlarge the seating area. This approach would avoid hacking up the helm area and will save loads of work....

Interesting. Lot's of fine tuning needed to the boat and captain. I can relate to both. I too have pretty much left my trim tabs alone and use them only for small tweaks. I think making the bracket more of an extension of the hull, like a euro-transom, is probably the safest approach. But that is lots and lots of work. I see no reason for twins on the B25, and if I did, I would not bother with twin 140s. Twin 200s or 250s might be worth the effort. Come ride on my bo...

The devil is always in the details. The absolutely simplest approach is to close out the transom holes and hang one or two outboards off the back.
