Fiberglass (E15)
Quick question. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on replacing the original fiberglass fuel tank on Jersey Girl. With continued discussions of introducing E15 (or higher) would a new fiberglass tank still hold up? Does this now make aluminum the clear choice for tank building material? Thanks in...

John - congrats on getting back into the game. She is sharp looking with the dark hull. I look forward to seeing you out on the water.

Re: Time Until Issue vs New Fuel Tank
Chance, Carl, Gert, Raybo, Jim and John thanks for the insight and thoughts. So far we have a: just don't do it (obviously the best choice), an hour or 2 until issues and then some got up to a full season (though did cause issues). I'm in the planning phase for a new tank and will start getting quot...

Re: Time Until Issue vs New Fuel Tank
Chance - thanks for the encouragement. Sorry to say there is no ethanol free gas for anything less than a couple hour trip by water. The tank is the issue now. The question is just when?

Time Until Issue vs New Fuel Tank
Now that I have taken ownership of our B31 it is plainly obvious that a new fuel tank is the most pressing need. It is a 1968 hull with the original fiberglass tank and it has never had a drop ethanol in it (according to the previous owner of 20 years). I, on the other hand, live in an area where yo...

Re: New - An Introduction
Bob - I guessing that is me. I'm around the corner from the travel lift slip. I think I saw another B31 still on the hard and shrink wrapped. Next time you are going to be at the marina PM me and let me know. It would be great to meet up.

Re: New - An Introduction
All - again thanks for the warm welcome and advice. Pete - I'll be taking you up on the offer for a call to get your insight on the engines. Rawleigh - I haven't spent much time on lower western shore of the Chesapeake but what I have seen has been extremely nice. After we are done poking around the...

Re: New - An Introduction
Pete, Rawleigh - thanks for the welcome and advice on the fuel situation with the 440's. The previous owner said similar things about the fuel burn rate and had a few ways to keep fuel consumption as low as possible. The main one is, as you mentioned, to keep the secondaries from kicking in. I'm sti...

To all, thanks for the warm welcome. John & Mikey - I especially appreciate the greetings from fellow Bertram owners here on the Bay. As with all on this site, it would be great to meet up in the future and look forward to the opportunity someday. Frank - I can't really speak to validity of the owne...

Here's a few pictures of the boat. I hope I have the image and files sizes correct for viewing. If not, I'll refine in the future. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i425/chandley345/Jersey%20Girl/Jay_Bee_General_2-11.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i425/chandley345/Jersey%20Girl/Jay_Bee_Ge...

New - An Introduction
After a being a spectator on this site for quite a while, years actually, I can finally make my first post as a Bertram 31 owner. Last weekend my wife and I took ownership of one of the greatest boats ever made. About the boat: it has been with a single owner in Virginia since the early 90’s. In the...
