It should be noted, I saw most of the process of this boat's restoration at Dog River Marina. This boat is rigged for cocktail cruises and weekend getaways, not fishing. The boat doesn't even have rod holders. From what I understand, the owner is an old fisherman, but doesn't care for it anymore. He ...

Yep, I was with him. We caught a 250ish blue and had a half a dozen shots at another one that we couldn't get to stick. Also missed a sail and donated more bait to super chickens than I care to remember. Fishing was great. I'm ready to go again, but I already know I can't go the next two weekends. G...

Still Winning

I'd like to see a list of Bertram 31 tournament victory's. This tournament usually has over 100 boats in it. I never heard a final number on it this year, but I know it was at least 30, with most being bigger, newer, faster boats. Still winning.

Correction, 58 boats.

I saw one the other day that was built into the half tower that I really liked. Had a bench for two or three people right behind the helm chair. Good place to turn around and watch the baits from too.

Yeah, I think the key for me will be to take out everything that is rotten and in need of upgrade (which is a lot) and then take it slow from there to see what all I want to do. Don't know that I can committ to Bob H.'s path.

Wow, Bob. I don't think I should set my sights for that much of a gut job, but want to get down to the hull. That looks amazing though.

Well, sounds like the shaft question was quite a loaded question, as most are when it comes to boats. Plenty of time to worry about that though. Andy, I remember Sadie and Jay talking about fishing with you out there and I was extremely jealous. I've seen your 36' Hatt too, nice boat. Definitely bet...

Harry, it'll be nice to have someone local to bounce things off of as well. Especially a local with a machine shop. :-D

I am close by. The boat is at my parents house on Dog River right now, and I work in Daphne. What's the name of your boat and where do you keep it?

I appreciate the advice on using the boat and can see the benefits to that, but I'm gona go all out on stripping it and starting over. The majority of the boat is rotten and in order to pull off a full weekend trip with the 454's, too much extra fuel is a necessity. Repowering, new floor, and paint ...

New Project

Hello fellow 31ers, I grew up fishing on my dad's '67 31 Bahia Mar, "Omynek", out of Dauphin Island and Orange Beach, AL. The 31 was retired a few years ago when my dad got a '69 38 Hatteras, almost as cool of a boat as the 31. The 31 has collected barnacles and mildew at the end of his wharf for th...
