Over forty years have passed since the first Flybridge models rolled off the line, the Plexiglas flybridge windshield and it's aluminum top frame, on most, are getting pretty weather beaten. Crazing and corrosion have taken their toll...
Until now, finding a replacement windshield that matched the complex curves of the original has been impossible. Most owners have elected to either just remove altogether the windshield, or to be satisfied with a flat faced replacement.
I'm pleased to announce that that's no longer the case! As of 11/14/2000, I can now offer a flybridge windshield that matches the original in both shape and beauty.
There are a couple of minor changes that have been made; both in regards to the aluminum frame. First the standard frame is powdered coated rather than anodized. Second, the wall thickness is slightly heavier than was the original. The original aluminum extrusion is no longer in manufacturer or available. This will require a slight modification to the chrome over bronze base tips by grinding a bit more clearance in the inside faces. About a ten minute fix with a high speed grinder with a #60 grit disc, followed a #100 grit disc.
The windshield is formed over a drape mold using high quality 1/4" cast acrylic, and is available in clear, gray, bronze, green, and, of course, the original "Coke Bottle Green".
The manufacturing is being done by American Marine in Pompano, FL. American is one of the top names in the custom marine window business. Delivery time is 4 - 5 weeks and can be shipped world wide.
While we must all admit, the original design of the windshield on the 31 flybridge was more of a "fashion statement" than it was a functional item... But if you are restoring your B31 or otherwise just want the original design, this is it.

Each windshield will have packaged with it, (or sent via mail), an installation guide and tips bulletin. This guide will also include specific instructions to properly drill the lower mounting holes.
