But in a Bertram, you wouldn't even need to hang on the the wheel in those seas.

I lived in Seaview WA for 2 years just out of highschool and worked as a bait boy on a couple of headboats that fished for salmon in the Pacific back in the day when you could. We ran the bar every morning and night, I spent a few nights out in the ocean at the mouth of the river being banged around when the Coast Guard would close the bar to all vessels. Look at the size of the scuppers on those boats I rember skippers yelling check the flappers are open and clear. Some of the old salts used to tell of hitting bottom when the bar depth was maintained at 32 feet now that its 40 that almost never happens. "Graveyard of the Pacific"

That is some crazy boat handling...need 24" scuppers just to clear the deck...at one point the boats look like there going backwards...BH
1966 31 Bahia Mar #316-512....8 years later..Resolute is now a reality..Builder to Boater..285 hours on the clocks..enjoying every minute..how many days till spring?

In this case, speed is your friend. I figure if you could match wave speed, it may not be so bad. Those trawlers are not the right vessel for those conditions, i'd put my moeny on a Bertram
