Engine Compartment Fire System Size/Gas Sniffer Systems

Post by John Nardi »

I was hoping that the sandbox would be able to tell me what the cubic footage is of each engine box area or the appropriate Fireboy Cylinder needed for a gas boat...Also, any recommendations for gas sniffer systems? Thanks, John

I bought the 100 cubic foot size. By my measurement, my engine boxes are slightly smaller than that, but I decided that getting the next size up was the conservative thing to do.

Peter

When I had the gas engines we had the 100 cubic foot size in the box.

I had a Xintex gas sniffer system in a previous boat. I was instructed to mount the sensor as low as possible for best performance. However, that led to very short life for the sensor and lots of false positives.
I hope you have a better experience.
