oil

Post by lobo »

Hello All, not new to the site just out of touch for a while. Sad to hear so many Bertram stewards have moved on to calmer waters. I 've been using the Valvoline premium blue oil since I had the cummins installed. Went to the Cummins dealer for oil only to find out they stopped making it. Now they have this new oil that covers all their engines, forgot what they told me it was. Iwas wondering what the faithfull were using . I have 6 bta's, 270 hp. (Uncle Vics recommendation, miss talking to that guy !!!!) Thanks all in advance. RASCAL

I use Rotella 15-40 in all of my diesels. Water, Road, Off Road.

Valvoline still shows Premium Blue on their website. I have a feeling your dealer is just not carrying it. Try a truck supplier. I live in NJ and there is a big dealer on rt 46 in Lodi. They always dold thd Premium Blue for a buck less a gallon than every one else.

If you can't it, get then go with the Shell Rotella as Mike said.

Thank you all, going to check on another supplier. I'm from Jersey also, Cummins in Bristol, PA told me they no longer make it.

Depending on where you are in NJ I get my oil from North Jersey Truck Center. 236 rt 46 saddle brook. They sell Rotella and Valvoline as well as others. I have found them cheaper than Wal-Mart. Since Wal-Mart is right on the other side of the highway it uus easy to check prices.

I am using Rotella T6 synthetic now. Good stuff and you can get it at Walmart cheapest, but also at Advance Auto or Tractor Supply. I get good used oil analysis reports from it in my 6.0 liter Ford diesel and they are notoriously hard on oil.

For those interested, Tractor Supply has the Valvoline Blue Premium on sale. 12.99 per gallon. Not sure how that compares to the "truck shop" prices.

How did you make out? I just purchased the Valvoline Blue from North Jersey Truck supply for 11.99 a gallon and COSTCO has Shell Rotella on sale until the end of this month for 10 a gallon.
