Cummins air filter or K&N?

I have been using Cummins air filter on my 2006 5.9 but have been told the K&N is as good, plus it will pay for itself after enough cleanings.

What do you Dodge guys think about this?

BTW I seem to get better results from my questions here on the Portal than any where else on the Net.

no argument definitely use K&N air filter with
better air flow especially more effective on 330hp and 370hp 6bta-m3. you already have the storm block version (2006 or newer) .

The k&n will let more dirt through then the fleetguard/Donaldson filters that are standard. That being said in a marine application I wouldn't worry unless your bilge is full of fiberglass dust and dirt.
In an automotive application I would be a little bit more hesitant.
Remember it takes less ten an ounce of dust to to wipe out an engine. That little ditty s from Cummns proper.

that`s a real tough order. both Caterpillar and Cummins are Federal contractors i might get a publicity call to stop production on marine engines but you with have to deal with WalkerAircept to stop production. all there marine engines from c-7 up and QSB up come with oil charge K&N type filters you can call Tony Athens at seaborn marine and john lane at Fork river and tell them they all have it wrong. BTW all the paper filters you want at fork river for free in a bin.

He said "dodge" guys. I have no idea what he owns, boat truck bus...etc

As far as boats Airsep over paper filter is a paid for upgrade and closes off the crankcase drip while keeping it ventilated. I'd rip every paper filter off too and put an Airsep on It's only good business.

Phoenix have three Dodge Cummins trucks , the K&N air filtration system is worth about 10 hp on 5.9 and 14 hp. on 6.7 liter engine if nothing else better fuel economy at same rpm as paper.this is a boat forum however the dodge cummins and the marine cummins 6BTA essentially share the same short block and i use the same K&N ait induction in the Phoenix.i can photograph if anybody is interested.definite seat of the pants increase in performance.
