Anyone have any word on Pete Fallons knee surgery?

Post by Carl »

Any news about how the surgery went? how he's doing?

My father in law also went in this Monday for a new knee...
It's crazy quick to see him up and walking yesterday...and he's headed home today.

I'm thinking Pete's surgery is a bit more then the run of the mill replacement knee.

Anyway...thinking about ya Pete, hoping this is the one that gets you back up on your feet fishing again!

Bruce or Mike, do you have Pete’s cell #? If so, please ring him up and let him know the guys on the Board are asking about him.

Faithful,
Thanks for the concern about my knee surgery. I am now intehab in Gaithersburg,Md, @Asbury Village Wilson Health Care. I got here last Thursday afternoon. The surgery went well About 4 hours on the table, both the top and bottom of the implant were grossly loose held on by 1/2 " @ top and a 1/4" @ the bottom, the doctor said he basically rebuilt my right knee . I was up walking with walker on monday aftermoon. Sent me to rehab Thursday afternoon physical torcher in late PM. Doing PT
Every day, HURTS bad after 3 hours of PT
T . Can't get any sleep they wake you up every 3 to 4 hours to take blood pressure or something else. Pain meds just starting to kick in they wake you up.
2 hours latter they ask you what you want for breakfast. It's the same routine everyday. SOME Nights are real bad with pain and sometimes it takes them 1-1/2 hours for the pills to arrive. I don't know which is worse the old lady in the next room yelling for her kids or asking for the door to be opened which it already is. The aides come in at 4am to get dirty linens then leave the bathroom light on an leave the per bottle in the bathroom so I have to get up and go get it.
SO I will be home Tuesday night and I will make another post My cell is five six one three one zero seven one seven niineGoing to try to get some sleep before noisey night shift get here at mid night

Pete emailed me and said it was ok to let you all know that his surgery went well and he is doing fine. He will update us all when he returns home. He promised me he will captain my boat and take me and his world famous surgeon fishing this coming summer.

I got a call from Pete yesterday seems to be in good spirits. He confirmed the surgery went well, they have him up and around, PT is tough, can't get any rest where he is, really looking forward to going home.

As he doesn't have the charge cord for his phone, he borrows when he can to make a few calls. No computer or devices with internet connection to post...he did borrowed a staff members to give his update post.

Pete got to talking about possibly looking for another 31 Express... I think that sets the tone best for how things are progressing.

Faithful,
I am home in Peabody Ma after 20 days in Maryland, 3-1/2 in hospital and the rest in rehab. I landed in a snow squall and there is a light coating on the ground but the wind chill is 5 degrees. After eating a few slices of Pizza I fell a sleep for 12 straight hours the first uninterrupted sleep in 12 days. The knee feels wonderful hardly any pain and I am up on crutches walking down the hall of my building. I have visiting physical therapist coming in 3 days a week for the next 2 weeks the start out patient for another 2 months. I am so happy about how my knee feels that I am going to start looking for another 31 Expresss in a few weeks and I am looking forward to getting my surveyors certification re-instated. I don't want to rush into things but that's how well I feel.
The implant is really strange looking compared to the last 3 I've had. It is made of Ceramic and Zirconium with a couple of 5" long stems coming off the center of the main implant looks like a ball joint where the stems are attached. Really looks robotic. That's about all for now feels great to be home and out of the torcher chamber they call rehab. anyone wants to talk Bertram's or other boats call my cell.
I won't be going any ware for the next 2 weeks.
