Hello All,

Great site and happy to see all the knowledge.

I'm sure I can learn a lot about Bertram! I have a 1984 Bertram 26 Sport Convertible.
Nice condition but like most old boats, not great and needs constant maintenance and repair.
I've search the web and there's not a whole lot of information on this model. Even on the Bertram site under the Manuals section
they don't mention or list this model. There are a few guys on here that have the same model. I'm hoping with the knowledge here perhaps you all can help me with what I have. Any idea on value? Is this a rare model? Must not have been very popular? Original 165 HP motors, straight inboard, all original boat, no screws or bolt ons previous owner customizations. Bottom and finish in nice condition, no major scrapes, cracks or hull damage. Cabin cushions nice, cockpit newly replaced as close to original. Color is tan. Bottom paint is older, boat is lift kept in Florida. Documented boat. So that's about it. Hoping for a lot of feedback info.

Welcome

I am sure as you raise questions you will get answers. We don't get many 26's showing up. We have another recent member who has one. So I am sure he will help.

Value is tough. As you know the market for older boats is very soft and the best way is to do search's on Yacht World to see what they are asking.

Ask away we will try to help.

Thanks for your reply.

Any idea how many of these boats were produced? Can you offer range of range value you think is realistic? Not much info on Yachworld regarding this model. Do you think $25,000- $35,000 is realistic? Lower or higher? How much insurance should I consider and which company is best to go with these older boats? Thanks again for the help from everyone.

I have been using Boat US for many years. And you will need a survey. I have not had one done in a while so pricing is a tough one. I would definitely see if Pete has any ideas.

You can send Pete a PM if he does not respond. The survey will help put a value on the boat.

Insurance questions are tough also, we all think a company is good until we have a claim.

Placing a value on an older boat that has not had a lot of sales makes things difficult. I have seen 31 Bertrams redone with diesels sell for $40,000 and then again for $75,000. So what a 26 would go for is any one's guess, but if I were selling it I would probably list it for around $25,000 and see how it goes.

Mike
I had mine surveyed, In southern Lake Michigan, $550.00 for in water survey without sea trial. I had it done so I could get insurance.
