Sure looks like JP's old Boat. I thought the guy who bought it was local. That one has Palm Beach on the back.

Chimera had a closed array radar, not that it cannot be changed. Based on that I am not sure it is JP's old baby...

Yup that's the old boat. Not many with that much wood and that hard top. She should be ready for paint by now

Went from a 10000# boat to a 44000# boat. It's more like what I am used to running, the fact that my partner and I can share it with our families is a bonus. It's exactly double in al out every way. Fuel for long trips went from just under two hundred to just under four hundred. Oil changes from seven gallons total to seven gallons per side. However the comfort has increased exponentially with the weight. Cruise speeds have stayed nearly the same, when needed this boat will still do 28 kts all day long.
The crew really feels the difference as they are not nearly as beet up when we finally get to the grounds.
We got lucky with this boat and our abilities to make it what we wanted. I would never look back. The 44 topaz has been great.

JP,
Was the 10,000# on the skinny side or the heavy side for her?
I'm running basically the same set-up, and thinking about getting a lift.

The new owner cleaned her up pretty good. I saw her in Stuart about a year or so ago for sale, and she needed some TLC.
I really liked the rigger set-up, were those Rupp?
Thanks,
Eric

Eric
10k was light. She may have been 12 or so it's a mid seventies boat so there was just the right amount of glass in it not over built like the earlier boats.

The riggers were rupp 18ft poles and 10ft bases. We had to double sleeve the bases cause they just couldn't handle the teaser load we ran on her without bending in the stock format.

JP - Judging from what I could see of your abilities with Chimera I don't expect much luck was involved. Congrats on the new boat and thanks for sticking around.
Best,
Stephan
