Welcome Captain Brent.

I'm sitting here with my dad under hospice care and found myself thinking of Uncle Vic. He burned bright fo sho. Miss him this time of year especially. Glad to hear Another Joy is still with you.

Look at the top of the general discussion page for a link on how to post images. It should help.

Brent,

First of all, I am more than excited to see a post from you here in a "world"/forum that your father was such a deep part of and know you are extremely welcome here fo sho!!!! Secondarily I am really excited to hear that Another Joy is still in the Roy family. So excited and so pleased.

Welcome my new friend, because if you are a Roy, you are a friend of mine.

Anything I can ever do to help (except posting pics, sorry buddy, that reaches the end of my capabilities...) please ask. And I am pretty sure that goes for all others here. Your dad was a GREAT part of why this is such a special place, and I will FOREVER be grateful for his contributions to my world and my life. So bring it on!!!!

I hope you, and your ENTIRE family are well. And we hear a lot from you!

Best,

Dug

Great to see his boat staying in the family! That boat will mean more to you than any boat you could own, good luck on the re-fit.

Your father would be proud to know you have taken over as the steward to Another Joy.

He is missed by all of us. He was a great person.

Look forward to hearing more about your updates to the boat.

Don't think there's any doubt to that Tony. Every time UV mentioned Brent, a proud smile would appear.

I was fortunate to meet your Dad a few times. I think two or three times in DC when he was here for work (met your Mom too--lovely lady), and at least once at a rendezvous. Each time we met, you came up in some part of the conversation, and UV beamed when he talked about you. Its just great to see that you wound up with AJ. Just perfect.

Doug C. and I met your Dad and I think your Mom one time in DC for dinner. Doug had just bought a black Porsche--completely blacked out. We had a few drinks, and Doug wanted your Dad to see his new car. So we walked out, your Dad looked at it, said "it looks like a coffin," and turned around and walked back into the bar. Unbelievably funny.

Laughed out loud. That was him. Very much to the point. And he always spoke his mind chuck and I have made great progress in the last week. Both engines are running, generator running, ac works, cleaned and oiled teak, and preparing to change shift and throttle cables Wednesday. Will post more pics soon

Yep Brent, for sure that was!!!! Sounds like you have made really great progress. One of my favorite stories was how he got her back after Katrina. He's smiling for sure!

First you make a roux... :)

Brent,

The NE Bertram Rendezvous is usually the first weekend of August in Greenport, NY. I am pretty sure you may wish to escape the heat of southern Louisiana with a trip up to Long Island that weekend, right? :)

Come on up! Join the fun!!!! It would be truly great to have you and family join everyone!!!!

My favorite Uncle Vic line came many years ago at the Flop House. In fact my buddies still bring it up and laugh about it. Somehow the subject of toilet paper came up and UV made a comment "that using cheap toilet paper is like wiping your ass with wax paper."

Those were the good 'ol days!
