Grady White 226

Post by TailhookTom »

Opinions - thoughts - -comments? 1996 with low hours, rack stored, immaculate inside and out. Soft top with a 200hp Johnson Ocean Pro on the back.

I know it isn't a B31 and it isn't the B25 I was planning on redoing. However, the price is mid teens and it needs nada.

I view it as a "dry" center console. I can leave my gear locked inside and still be able to fish, dock, moor, anchor all by myself.

Be gentle -- remember I did have a serious head injury 18 months ago so sometimes I'm not thinking straight!

Tom,

I have an '88 that we repowered w/ a 200 Yamaha a few years ago...love the boat.

the hull design has been changed on the newer boats (SV2)..we put a hard top on, any use it year-round here in NC. Use it for mostly inshore stuff, but occasionally we will go out 10-12 miles on calm days.

Funny--my Dad just called and asked about a Grady CC.

Nice boats. Be careful of rot in them. Ask around and look around. Apparently, its pretty common in the 80s boats and the 2 early 90s boat I looked at wound having rot in the transom and cockpit.

Not my day John . I arrived at the yard and seen some guy who has a boat at the yard. I could not belive he sold both boats to the yard. One a nice 43 ocean with 6-71 detroits for 25,000 and a Grady white 205 with 200 hp merc .the merc was a 1996 and boat a 1986.very clean 5,000.00 completely equipped ,I drove the the ocean to the canyon last year a put them on tuna .took the Grady for stripe bass at end of season and it ran well. City dude with no knowledge of boats.

Wow. I'm not a big fan of Oceans, but $25K seems so low. Is the market that bad?

I heard that if you sit in the engine room of an Ocean while it is running and look down the center line of the hull you can see it waiving as you go over the waves.

The early ones truly earned the nickname "Flexible Flyer."
