End of the week grin!

Post by MarkS »

Siamese twins walk into a bar in Canada and park themselves on a bar stool.

One of them says to the bartender, "Don't mind us; we're joined at the hip.
I'm John, he's Jim. Two Molson Canadian beers, draft please."

The bartender, feeling slightly awkward, tries to make polite conversation
while pouring the beers. "Been on holiday yet, lads?"

"Off to England next month," says John. "We go to England every year, rent
a car and drive for miles. Don't we, Jim?" Jim agrees.

"Ah, England!" says the bartender. "Wonderful country... the history, the
beer, the culture..."

"Nah, we don't like that British crap," says John. "Hamburgers and
Molson's beer, that's us, eh Jim? And we can't stand the English - they're
so arrogant and rude."

"So why keep going to England?" asks the bartender.

"It's the only chance Jim gets to drive."

Ha !

Jokes aside, does anybody know what % of the global population drives the opposite direction?
Cyprus, Japan, all the ex- Brit colonies in Africa, India... probably they're more than what we think.

I believe any country that was at one time a British colony. Fortunately horses did not apply, or the US would be driving that way.

Japan (left hand drive country) was never a British colony... Egypt, a territory formerly ruled by the British is right hand drive... Israel & Jordan (former British Palestine Mandate area) are right hand drive...

Hong Kong is a really weird case... It's P.R. China territory (as of 1997) which is right hand drive but Hong Kong is still left hand drive...

Thailand (not a former colony) and Indonesia (a former Dutch colony) are also left hand drive... Which is also really weird because The Netherlands are a right hand drive country...

Nav,

In Egypt they drive on the right due to all northern Africa's influence by the French. However, their trains' system was designed by the Brits, so their trains run on the left!!
Hong Kong was under British rule until '97, so they run left despite China's recent dominance.
The Dutch and the Brits are one nation in two countries; they alternate everything...

At least the good lord Richard Bertram knew where to put the steering wheel on the B31 -- well at least on the flybridge models he did!
