GIF's boat?

Post by MarkD »

This may have been posted already - I assume you all saw this? Gif, isn't this your boat from the transport accident?

She looks like she can be put back together. What engines were in her GIF?

If the engines are in good shape some one might be able to get then down to 10,000 and have a pair of working take outs. Repair the hull and sell it to make back the money.

Tony Shearwater had big old cummins v-8s I think 903s. It's repairable, set up for diesel from the factory Gif kept her in great shape. A time capsule that deserved the rehab it surely was headed for down south.BH

Yup...my boat. Hard to look at it. I think very repairable for the right person. Engines were 504 cummins. Ran great, but heavy , relatively slow, and not the greatest fuel efficiency. That said, if you maintain em, indestructable. V8's sound nice also.

Boat was rewired, and everything worked. Lots of new or late model features/accessories. I was going to say newshafts and reconned props...but you can see the pix.

Have all the records and history. Let me know if you want more data.

If I did not have so much going on...I would try to buy it myself. (Lowball it)

The last time Shearwater spent time in my driveway she became the land mark for directions in the neiborhood.....

Go down the street , take a right on Hilview drive,...and go by the house with the boat in the yard and take a left....

Been thinking about it.......but my wife will kill me.

I’ve been following this restoration project on Instagram and just put it together tonight when looking at some of the restoration pictures and then trying to remember who’s boat this was.

Nice work.

Not sure I am wild over what they did with the total glass in of the windows with those hatch inserts. I think that would make me feel confined.

Dug

Do they specialize in Rehabbing boats? Does not seem like they would get their money back out of that one unless they did it for someone.

Tony,

They are doing the renovation on spec. Not for anyone specific, but hoping that specific person does show up.
