Shaft/Prop advice - Stupid Question

Post by John F. »

The port shaft on Crows Nest doesn't run true when you look at it through the hatch right behind the engine box. The props seem fine--no dings. There is no movement that I can tell if I grab the shaft or prop. I don't really feel much vibration, but you can see that the shaft is running true like the starboard shaft does (and both shafts did on the Anna E.)

Is my next move to take the shaft and props to the local shop and have them checked? I just wanted to ask before I started taking stuff apart.

John I'd go over the engine alignment first, seperate the coupler and see what you have. We normally look for .003-.005 at the 12-3-6 and 9 positions.
Check the engine mounts to maked sure one hasn't crushed the rubber out and fallen down a bit. If the alignment is wy out of whack you need to find the root cause
