Congratulations Mike! 1966 was a good year! I used to have a 1966 C33A Debonair! My Bertram is 1966, as is a Case tractor I own. None were bought intentionally for the year. Funny how some years just keep showing up though!

Stall speed is pretty low on those if I remember less than 60 kias.
Makes for short landings, the fuel mileage is real good with the 260.

Looks really nice, is it for 1 pilot only? I have a friend who has a Piper plane too. He got it because his house in Larnaca here is very close to the airport, so hi flies it around the island from time to time.

Four seats plus a luggage 'compartment'. Two sets of flight controls. Pretty nimble for a somewhat heavy aircraft.

I wished I had pursued my pilot's license when younger. Here is the plane my father and I flew in, I think '78. Super Decathelon out of Gnoss Field-DVO in Novato,CA. I remember him giving me the stick and trying to copy what he trained for- hammerheads, stalls, negative rolls, all kinds of maneuvers. I remember my favorite move was the hammerhead and that feeling of plane stalling, then having to build air speed until plane started to fly again! My teachers did not believe me when I told them what I did over the weekends. I was about 10 yrs old!

Mike I bet your anxious about those lessons, that is exciting your doing that and that plane of yours, bet you can't wait to cross over new aerobatic skills to yours! Plus you can carry more speed to do them I'd imagine.
Tony I'd reckon if you tend to faint getting blood drawn I wouldn't advise aerobatics!

Used to give a lot of blood. Did aphersis for a while when my father was sick. Did not pass out then either. Did that for a few years every two weeks for about two years.

Never like roller coasters so doing that in a plane would not work for me.

When I was younger I always had an urge to learn. Never got a chance. Now I have a nephew who is a flight instructor and do you think the dam kid would invite me up just once.

I’ve always had the bug to learn as well. Flew with a friend in a Cessna 172 a few times when I was younger and thought about making the jump.

However, I’ve tried multiple hobbies, and a couple different occupations, and one thing that was constant with me was that while I was generally reasonably successful at my endeavors, I’d usually learn just enough to pass the test, muddle through and ‘get ‘er done’.

Knowing that about myself and being honest with myself I figured that wasn’t a good model for becoming a private pilot. Lol. That needs to be an avocation that a person is truly dedicated to. I didn’t have that fire.

My nephew is an excellent pilot and his students are loyal to him. So much so, he is thinking of going out on his own. One of his students is pretty well off and wants to back him.

It took him a few years to get there, I think he had a scare at one point and backed away for a while. He would never tell anyone what happened. He was pretty much a natural, but I think what helped him, was growing up, he was always flying planes in those aviation video games.

Once he started flying he told me it was not that much different than the video game. Go Figure.

Mike, how long have you been flying? I gather it’s a new plane. Is flying a relatively new hobby or have you been at it a while. Congratulations on your latest classic.

I just started flying in July or August. Right when NY allowed business to reopen. I liked it so much that I bought a high power, complex aircraft. It's a bit of a handful for a student, but I like the challenge.

Trey is around. He says he hasn't flown in over a year, but still has his Mooney.
