Re: Hurricane Approaching
Local weather gurus here in SE NC say we are due for some heavy rains, but others say we may be lucky and Joaquin will bypass us but might hit the Outer Banks which are north of us. With the moon near full tidal surges might be a problem. Hope all of you guys north of us fare well.

Re: Fast and furious? or just a bit off the chart
One of the very first things the instructor in the Master's Course I took taught us is, in times of reduced visibility, SLOW DOWN. If the guy couldn't avoid a green buoy (which I would imagine is marked on the charts, if somebody aboard had time to look at one), how could he avoid an 18' center cons...

It had a self propelling feature at one time, but the drive belt has stretched and I haven't gotten around to replacing it.

B31 mention/pic in Power and Motoryacht magazine
For those of you who haven't seen it, the October issue of "Power and Motoryacht" magazine has an article on the prettiest boats ever built, and on page 104 they show a pic and mention the B31, saying they "are a tad wet" (gee, I never heard that before), and are included because of their "sweet pro...

We were racing a 44' sailboat in the Newport, RI, to Bermuda sailboat race about 20+ years ago. We were about 200 miles from the nearest land, and the 45-50 knot wind was whipping the sea into a frenzy. Occasionally a wave would break over the bow and run back down the deck, filling the cockpit. My ...
