3208 question
I was running antifreeze through my raw water system to winterize the boat, the engine started to turn slowly, as if the batteries were low. I charged 'em up. Same thing. The wire going from the starter to the bonding system got HOT.....like melt the plastic hot. Any ideas? I have not had any proble...

Thanks for the help. I tried to find a fuel flow chart like the one posted on the Cummins thread....no luck yet. It's a single engine application; 26 foot boat, 12' beam, tuna tower. I remember someone asking for performance numbers....Sim? 20kts @ 2000 rpm 23 kts @ 2300 rpm 25 kts @ 2500 rpm My com...

How about 3208 fuel burn
The guy I bought my boat from told me the fuel consumption was around 7gph @ 2000 rpms. I haven't run the boat enough to tell whether this is even in the ballpark. The engine is a 3208T 320 bhp @ 2800 rpm.

Question for Dug
Dug,
Which satellite weather do you have, is it XM? I'm looking at the different receivers available. Couldn't remember which yours was.

John, Yes, I first saw it on Ebay. Those photos didn't make the boat look all that good. I ran into the owner one day after we had exchanged emails. He said he was buying a new boat and would sell it now for half. I offered him twenty per cent less than that. After much anguish (don't I know how tha...

Bought another boat (not, unfortunately, a Bertram)
Well, I've been looking, and found a boat I couldn't resist. The criteria? Trailerable, single engine, economical diesel (single), small enough to singlehand (capt gets charter fee AND tip), last but not least, INEXPENSIVE! The B28 has a bridge, I needed an express. The B25 was a little too small an...

B28 for sale on Block Island
A gentleman I know has bought a center console and needs to sell his B28. It is a gasser (454s?) needs transmission work, but otherwise is in nice shape. Asking price? $23,000 (!!!) Bruce Johnson (401) 466-2137 I don't think he has advertised it anywhere other than the B.I. Times. It's gonna go fast...

Sim & all, I agree completely that the auxiliary guy was in the wrong, and said as much. But that doesn't absolve the speedboat guy. Right of way aside, isn't he also responsible for the safe passage of his vessel? The rules say you must always maintain a lookout. I don't think the speedboat guy's c...

I'm in complete agreement that the C.G.A. was in the wrong. The vessel operator must yield BEFORE a collision can occur. But don't you think the speedboat guy deserves some kind of runner-up mention? for being so clueless that he allowed a marked Coastie vessel to hit him? I don't know about anyone ...

John, I am familiar with the rybo runner. I looked at one in Louisiana before setlling on a B31. Great sea boat, lots of beam; a salty boat! The one I looked at had a 300 cummins, was in rough shape, and was priced at $70,000. I've seen outboard models at that price or higher. That is an excellent p...

John, Dug, Dan, Thanks for the kind words. It WAS a happy day selling my boat, but not as happy as buying it. What a boat she was! Chris, Way to go! Nice trip! I once had an eighty pound sword swim up to the boat- I thought it was a mako because it swam in an agitated kind of way. It gulped a butterfish down and tasted great after it was grilled. The last large mako I caught weighed 440 pounds. It was nine and one half feet lon...

All, Thanks for the info on how you troll. I've been too busy and disgusted after my last (crappy) trip to post about it. The night before we left, coming into the harbor, the transmission shift link broke. We ended up high and dry! As in aground. No damage, all ok. Next morning, starboard engine wo...
