If you waited long enough for the thin film you applied to the hull to tack up, then its a sure thing the larger volume in your tray/cup had already began to polymerize. They mean similar in the aspect that it's an acrylic urethane... Most likely it'll have completely different ratings in it's pencil hardness, abrasion wheel rating, etc.
BUT, if you can hit the color, and it can be sanded, buffed and polished, then it might work out for you... maybe..?..

Well, the boat was built with 100% polyester... So, based on that alone, it cannot be the "wrong stuff". There are stronger resins for sure, such as vinylester and our beloved epoxy resin. Yes Ian, on the B25 and the B31 the lifting strakes are hollow voids with hull glass behind them. They can be damaged and it'll have no effect but to fill the strake with water.

Images are distorted because a fish-eye lens was used on some shots. Thats much more head than one gets on most SF 31's yeah? Nicely designed too. Seems very functional to me. I actually have a 3M full face respirator as well... I reserve that for when I'm spraying over head only. But It'd work for sure. For grinding I wear a good dust mask particulate respirator- like the 3M 8511(with the valve) or similar... no need to go all "organic vapor" for particulate. Ends up goi...
