Guys, I hoping you guys can point me to the right person.
I needed three exhaust valves for the Cummins 4BT rebuilds I'm doing.
Who's in the area that is a friend of or supports this site?
Thanks!

Canada or Brazil
Ok faithful, I got a question. As I announced I just purchased a pair of Cummins 4BT with the intention of doing a rebuild and then replacing my 351W's. They are 150HP, 1988 vintage and have been torn down to the bare blocks. One block is cast "Brazil" one is cast "Canada." (The serial numbers are o...

Starting diesel to gas repower this weekend
Well faithful, I've made the plunge. I purchased two Cummins 4BT's and they arrived from Maryland this weekend. I've spent the last two days getting them off the pallets in my driveway (no small feat), the the ZF 200a's off and the motors disassembled to the bare blocks. One had a blown head gasket ...

At least once a year. My wife and I practice compass navigation on our trips to the Bahamas. Its fun and helps occupy our time on the three hour crossing, plus it keeps the skills sharp. Even when we use the GPS we write down our coordinates, speed and course every 30 minutes, just in case we loose ...

Congrats. I too am a 28'er. I did the rudder upgrades and all the hype about them does not begin to compare with how they actually perform. We spent three weeks livin on the boat in the Bahamas this summer and because of the large rudders we were able to troll on one motor for 700 miles using the au...

Hope town
My wife and I would definitely do Hope Town. It will give me added motivation to complete the diesel conversion I'm kicking off in time.

Buying engine input wanted
I have been looking for some diesel motors and transmissions to rebuild. Of course I am broke, but that probably never stops most of us. I have a 28' FBC with 351's and think that I have a donor boat lined up. I've found an old 28 Uniflite in NC thats looks like hell, the interior is water damaged f...

We are currently in Hope Town, but have not done any real fishing. We saw the guys in the Bill Fish Tournament two days ago in Treasure Cay. Some really beautiful boats. Gas was the cheapest at $5.7xxxx at Green Turtle Marina most other places its close to $6.25 with diesel 25 to 50 cents cheaper. M...

Hello from the Abaco's
Just wanted to drop everyone a note, we are cruising the Abaco's in our 28 FBC. We have slowed trolled on one motor from Boynton Beach, to West End, spending four nights anchored out. We arrived today at Green Turtle Cay and are staying at the Leeward Yatch Club. The weather and seas have been spect...

Will post some photos. The switch has three positions. Off, run (that starts fan and sea water) and run which starts the compressor. A friend who does electric engineering said the new honda's are electronically regulated and can take the start up hit. The mechanically governed westerbeke is likely ...

Genset seems mechanical
Went through all of those. I have loaded the genset with hair driers, toasters, frig, chargers, etc. Put amp meter on and it runs fine ith nearly 25+ amps, no problem. It's just that initial bump on the initial start of the ac.
I will look at a larger capacitor. [/list]

Need some more input
I got the genset in for the mock up and test out. Its a tight fit and sure has been a learning curve. Genset runs great, but when I initially fire up the AC it stalls out the genset. It's a 4.5KW gas westerbeke, 120/60. The AC is a Marine Air Vector 7000BTU with a locked rotor amp of 36.2. I realize...

I'm impressed. That is actually the direction with the engine hatches I was thinking of.
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one.

Installing 31 engine boxes on a 28
I've got a crazy idea as I plan out converting my 28 FBC from 351 PCM's to a diesel boat, hopefully a with Cummins powerplants. Anyhow, I realize there is the whole engine hatch height on the 28 issue.
Does anyone ever hear of grafting 31 engine boxes on a 28?

Thanks for the input. Luckily this is a 1800 rpm 3 cylinder and seems pretty quiet and smooth.
The blower is a great idea.

Genset Install
Happy Mothers Day; I have a 76' 28 FBC with 351's and I know that it had a genset onboard (it has the exhaust thru hull and people who know the boat said that it may have been a Kohler??). I have acquired a Westerbeke 4.5 which runs great and I got a remanufactered generator for a previous boat but ...

Head Identification
Hey guys, looking for a hand identifying my marine head. I have a 76 28FBC with an electric head. The motor runs fine, but the hard nylon impeller is junk. The motor/base has been painted over and I don't see any markings. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hynautic Plumbing Question
I just picked up a complete used hynautic system, but have a couple of questions I'm hoping you guys can help me with. The reservoir obviously needs to be plumbed to the back of the helm pump.
