Out our way the commercial guys use a circular basket that is just a heavy duty laundry basket. It holds no water, nor should anything that will hold wet rope.

Another factor to consider is fuel consumption. My Chrysler 440's running at 3000 rpm had me moving at 20 kts @ about 26 gph plus. My Cummins 210's @ 23-2400 rpms gives me 21 kts @ 15 gph and I could cruise at that speed for hours without stressing them.

In my opinion, if you fish, you will find it in the way and a pain in the ass. Even if you don't, it's one more thing to go wrong. Volvo parts are notoriously expensive and are quite often not in stock. The plus side might be that duoprops track straight and you won't have rudders. Not for me, though.

Mark- Mine is mounted on the port bow. My chain that will make contact with the deck is vinyl (plastic?) coated to avoid rust spots and the shackles are SS. I assume you must have an anchor locker under the bow for the rest of the rode. I wrap the chain around the mounted anchor so it stays.

No I haven't Harry, but I was VERY pleased. Come to think of it, I DID send my B-20 parts to them 3-4 years ago. Stuff came out fine. My New Jersey Cousin/mate picked them up and wouldn't let me pay for them, so I can't speak for any recent price changes.

I can tell you the Steiger fly fishing boat is built like a tank and has all the stability a Montauk/East End fly caster would ever want. Lots of subtle well thought out amenities. It IS not cheap, but made very well.

If I remember correctly, the older injectors were the problematic ones whose tips dropped into cylinders and the newer ones were the correction to cure that problem. Hope I'm wrong for your sake.

I don't know if this helps or bears any relevance but when I converted to 210 Cummins 6bt's with 1.52 trannys from Chryslers, we kept my 1 3/8" shafts. I turn 20 x 20 cupped props and have been doing so since 1990.

A 1986 tank was probably made of different fiberglass resins than the 1960's and 70's vintage. I can almost guarantee you a frozen valve and crapped up plugs and carburetors with 1500 gallons of ethanol laced fuel in a older model.

If you have the Coosa, try it. A lot has to do with the year of your boat. Mine is a 64 and the transom is solid as a rock, while I have seen later models with a fair amount of flex when heavy guys step on board.

Mikey-Call your local Fire department. Tell them your extinguishers have to be recharged. Bet they will send you to an authorized recharger in your area you didn't know existed. Worked for me.
