Overhead storage - what have others done
I saw this photo on the new Bertram 35 site. It looks like it's overhead storage in the salon. I'm at work and cannot go measure right now LOL and was wondering if any of you have created overhead storage like this. Would love to see some creative ideas. http://www.bertram.com/assets/images/bertram3...

I started looking up this stuff. Radiant foil is another option, attic foil. From what I read it's strong and less expensive than the bubble. The more I read the more I think I may end up putting it in my attic!

Tony I think you can huck it through one of the front windows. I believe I read that somewhere here. I've never measured... Carl, Good to hear that it stays cold for a while. I may have to upgrade someday. I still have the original one, it works, but surely is not very efficient being 45 years old.

Don I believe Isotherm is popular. Does anyone USE their fridge a lot? If so, what are you putting into it. I don't want to run the generator JUST to run the fridge while running. So we use it as a cupboard for dry goods, bread, etc. with no refrigeration an no humidity. I sometimes think it's a was...

I have tubes on my hatches as well. But the diameter is not very large, they are susceptible to clogging. It would be interesting to put a video camera below to see if they work properly. Placing a canvas cover over the cockpit while the boat is at rest will dramatically reduced the amount of rain w...

Yannis Thank you for the info. I've tried to see how the felt tracks are adhered inside the frame. I'm not sure yet, as I don't see any screws. My back windows don't slide either. One is still glass. The other, on the starboard side is plexi, it must have been replaced at some point I'm guessing. Ha...

Marlin, I'm with ya on keeping it original as much as possible. The cockpit deck could use fish boxes. The bowrail can be replicated in shape, but with safer welded joints. I'd like to find someone to do a good job on the bulkhead rot. That's my first thing to attack right now. The rest of it can be...

Mike,
YES! those are two pet peeves we have.
I fear that when I really need that bow rail for it's intended purpose, it won't hold my weight.
The ladder round bars are another accident waiting to happen with a slip. Plus pulling that thing in and out to open the engine box sucks.

I found some rot on a couple bulkheads. Which led me to thinking about pulling the cockpit deck to do it right. I have used the AC mostly while at port, with shore power. I've yet to camp out on the hook, although hope to this summer. I was thinking the same thing about the gravity/bilge drain. It may not keep up. I have two drains. One stern, one mid ship. However, the bilge pumps should kick in as well if needed. Marlin Thank you for the info. If you used a limited amount of water to cool the system, then you would not have the chance of flooding the boat. Marlin I'd like to know how to keep the AC going while the boat is on the lift. It would keep the boat dry and less prone to mildew. He could go in or out making the letters smaller or larger.

LCD sun burn damaged VHF radio - replace film
My ICOM M504 radio LCD is unreadable. Apparently due to sun damage is my guess. ICOM does not offer a "dust cover" for this model. Their response is "it's flush mounted and weather proof, you don't need one". Sending it to ICOM for repair is $95/hour. A new radio is around $450 and has new bells and...
