Re: Securing risers to the manifold - bolts or studs
In some applications they use both bolts and studs because of clearance issues. This is not specifically for 454s but more in general. The inner lower riser bolt on my turbos uses a nut on a stud as opposed to a bolt. Also can help hold the heavy thing in place... I dont think it is like using studs...

Same engine with some tweaks. The 210, 250, 270, 315, 330 is the same Storm Block. Difference becomes fuel pump, after coolers, turbos and I believe some other modifications. I am talking Specifically about CPL 1975 I understand the same series 210, 250, 270 etc... I am wondering if the 315 and 330...

Super low tide yesterday on Long Island
Was bringing my boat from Amity Harbor to Merrick yesterday and ended up having a "soft" grounding. I was in the Amity Channel (I always called it snake cut) and was on my GPS tracks but the low sun got in my eyes and on one of the tight turns I saw I was off the tracks.... Yes it does make a difference. @12 degrees the thrust is closer to straight out the back which directs it in a more efficient manner. Maybe a few of the guys on here that actually have done it will chime in. With the better angle some of these 31's are pushing 38 knots PLUS #WOT with 300+ HP engines...

I think the hose should be marked "marine exhaust hose". That should be good. I am not sure if that is "reinforced" or not. Moreland hose in Oakdale or Hempstead should carry that.

Re: Rudder position indicator
The rubber band takes up the slack between the 2 SS bolts that retain the arm. Otherwise there is a little slop when you turn one way to the other.
This was the most simple way I came up with. There are better ways but I went with this for simplicity

Cummins 210 HP 6BTs are the "Dirt simple" end of the spectrum. They are old school and use CAV injection pumps. The entire engine is simple in the fact that there is no special add-ons that end up hurting them...like fuel coolers and aftercoolers and such... Once running they dont even need 12volts ...
