Peter- If your problem is broken or missing pins, they can easily be replaced. I suspect your zero degree transom rod holders are mounted that way, is because they're thru-bolted and there might not be enough room underneath to do that if they were turned. If you were changing things, since it seems...

I have to assume (others please chime in) that once the Ethanol fuel is completely gone from the tank, and refilled with diesel, the deterioration process will stop, BUT whatever damage that has been caused is permanent. If it was my boat and I was going to the expense of new (or used) diesels, I wo...

Peter- I don't know if you need as much as 15' of chain on your 300' of 1/2" rope in your basket with that larger anchor. I use a #13 Danforth with half that length of chain and have had no problem holding in Montauk's currents. If that basket/chain/rope and anchor is going to sit in the cockpit, it...

If it's just the port engine and both are feeding off the same tank, I would disconnect the fuel line from the port engine and feed that engine from a separate 6-10 gallon tank to see if it smooths down or still runs rough. If it still runs rough, it's the engine, not the fuel. It would be a shame t...

Based on what I can understand, slime would slip off from the simple pressure created by running. As far as barnacles are concerned, they have to be able to grip. A spinning shaft or prop should hurl them off if it works as per the demos. Boy, would I love to get my hands on a can or two just to try...

My portfolio of T-shirts are almost exclusively Bertram 31.com Rendezvous shirts, with a few Guy Harvey shirts thrown in. All have chest pockets (or I won't wear them), and I don't think any of them say anything else. But then again, I'm an old fart whose nasty comments are usually verbal, screaming...

A somewhat similar MAD AV story. I had an early (bought it new in the 60's) 16'7" Whaler and now have a 10 yr old (bought new) Carolina skiff. Both boats flew. The Whaler had a slight V in the center of the bow, while my Carolina Skiff is flat across the bow. You guys might be talking about a different model Carolina (newer hull de...

I would suspect that you will have to miter cut and butt the stern corners. The bow bend you will have to experiment with because of the hollow half oval choice of stainless edging. I'm guessing that the wider the strip, the more noticeable the "flattening" might be. Take a one foot length and bend ...

Been there and done that in my pre-Bertram 31 days. A war surplus Loran A was my first electronic navigation device. It's a lot spookier in a dense fog and you have to learn your approximate speeds at various RPM's and a few basic formulas like speed x time= distance and it's variations. A pad and p...
