You should give Rob at Raybo a call. He can give you the pros and cons on relining. Removing the original tank is the hardest part of tank replacement on the 28 so I went with aluminum figuring the deck comes up easy enough and if I get 15 years at of it I'll replace it again and still be ahead of t...

I have an 8d sitting in my bilge for the house bank and one starter battery for each engine. One alternator charges the two starter batteries though a combiner and the other alternator (100 amp) takes care of the house loads. My 28 likes the weight of the 8d down low and the two starting batteries I...

I use Larry Fox Agency @516-541-3700 and he has me with American Modern Home. I was in the market for cheap insurance to satisfy the bank that did not require constant surveys. I don't know how good this policy is but whenever I call Larry, he promptly returns my calls. I've been with them 9 years n...

John Prine sums it up pretty good Chorus: Please don't bury me Down in that cold cold ground No, I'd druther have "em" cut me up And pass me all around Throw my brain in a hurricane And the blind can have my eyes And the deaf can take both of my ears If they don't mind the size Give my stomach to Mi...

I need to burn off a few gallons of gas before the winter layup so any excuse for a ride is go time. I'm working midnights and generally get up around 2:00pm, any time after that is good with me. The weather looks to be improving a bit so a bay ride might not be that impressive, but I've found the m...

Give me a call and I'll take you for ride. I think you'll be pleased with the boats performance. If you're planning on fishing in the surf zone, well, you're on your own. Other than that the boat handles well in all sea conditions while under way and at anchor. It shows its beam to the sea on the dr...

Deck coatings
The diamond pattern on my deck in the cockpit is showing its' age. I'm thinking about using a deck coating called Durabak but once I put this stuff on there will be no turning back. Anyone have any experience with this stuff. http://www.nonslipcoating.com/marine.htm[/url]

I mounted my c-120 on one of the pivot arms that West Marine sells. I have it mounted to the right of the throttles so it can swing in as close as my elbow or swing out to the corner of the windscreen. It's not the most elegant of solutions but it serves its purpose. In a good sea it moves around a ...

Did you notice any ethenol damage? The gel coat looks to be intact from the pictures as compared to what I saw at Carl Tanks and Raybo's boat yard. The gel coat was peeling off and the fragments were soft and gummy also quite a few soft spots in the tank itself. I just finished draining the tank and...

I have a thin transom also. Next time you're poking around your engines on a sunny day take a look at the hull sides, they're translucent as well. The beauty of the Bertrams are that they knew where to put the glass. When I put my swim platform on I glassed in four plywood backing plates. I was plan...
