Let this be a testament to a survey... I personally went down today to see this boat Buddy-Boy since it is literally down the block from me. I can attest to the curb side appeal of this boat. I did not go onboard and only looked at the dock in awe of her good looks. To me it looked like a brand new ...

Re: Setting initial timing on a Delco EST ignition
When the engine stalls..... Do you think it is stalling because it is electrically stopping...like as if you are turning ignition off...like it has a short??? or Do you think it is stalling because the timing is off and you need to time it properly??? What is you base timing at idle? I am not very f...

The included transmission are 1.2:1. I dont know if that is a good combo for a 31 Bertram. You could use the stock strut but would only be swinging an 18" prop. I am no engineer but I do recall some talk of this on an older thread. Any ratio will work but the props that go along with the combo may n...

What is rated RPM? If it is 2600rpm then can you make 2700RPM and make it easy? That is first question and that is what is recommended to make on B-series cummins (making 100rpm or more OVER the rated RPM) Personally I think you have a bad injector that is "acting up" See what others suggest on this...

Is this problem of not going above idle speed happen when under load (in gear) or will it happen only in neutral? Is the problem possibly an electrical problem? Maybe in ignition system? Turbo engines are a little funny (Not literally) when something is just slightly not right sometimes. For example a small leak in the charged air side of the engine can cause all kinds of power loss and increases in EGT. IMO if it is stiff it will need to be replaced. I have tried yrs ago to lubricate etc...it just wont last long. Others may have better way tho. https://i.imgur.com/isleXyv.png Inside the cav pump with the small side inspection cover removed there are "letters" that line up with a mark when the pump is in the TDC position. Re: High EGT on 6BT's
Carl, you have CAV pumps and they are timed specifically to an individual engine. A mark on the timing cover is where its original CAV pump is supposed to be. If the pump is new or just a different than the original one equipped then the mark can be off slightly I believe. 1mm of movement of the tim...

Great article. It has a lot of math and calculations to get a good idea of what kind of hours you will get out of an engine.
The moral of the story (or the cliff-notes) is to NEVER OVER-PROP
If you under-prop you will get more hours between overhauls

I think Mercruisers (GM 350's) use a same distributor for both engines as far as I can recall.
