You are correct.. the complete deck on my 1983 B33 FBC is end grain balsa core. Pretty much every screw hole I have checked had rot around it. The cockpit floor panel had about 60-70% core rot. I repaired that exactly as instructed above.

How is the condition of the bottom? More specifically, how clean are the props/shafts?
I have Cummins 6B 315HPs in my B33, and when the props get well covered with barnacles she won't get up to normal speed for the engine RPMs and she smokes a lot.. (Black smoke)

Thanks all for your input. I finally decided on the Rule 2000 gph pumps, with their standard 3 year warranty. Easier to replace since new and old pumps have identical mountings and wiring, in stock at local West Marine, and followed comments from people I have learned to trust.
